Chapter 1019 – Shengsheng, He’s a Man

Back in the room, Liu Yusheng immediately pulled the man over once the door was closed and spread out the map for him.

“Quick, check if Miaojiang is nearby! If it is, we can set out to find it in the next couple of days!”

Her urgency left Feng Qingbai feeling helpless.

Even though he had a photographic memory and could recall the map on the parchment scroll, merging it with this new map for comparison took time. One glance wouldn’t reveal the exact location.

Moreover, Southern Xinjiang never belonged to Xiliang territory, so the Mo City map might not even connect to Miaojiang, leaving nothing to compare.

“What are you standing there for? Look quickly!” The woman, seeing his helpless expression, urged him again.

“Shengsheng, you love me, don’t you?” The man suddenly said, making Liu Yusheng pause in surprise.

She could only pinch him, laughing through tears. How could he get jealous at a time like this? Whatever happened to his usual sharp reasoning?

“The Gu in Qinglian’s body is the Life Link Gu. Even if it seems fine now, we can’t predict when it will act. If we can find a way to remove it quickly, his chances of survival will increase. This is a matter of life and death, so focus properly.”

Feng Qingbai remained silent, thinking he was being serious.

After all, calamities that last a thousand years, a trouble like Xue Qinglian, are unlikely to be short-lived.

He reached for the map Liu Yusheng handed him, sat down at the table, and began carefully examining the terrain.

Compared to the simple, sketch-like parchment map, this Mo City map was obviously far more detailed. Fortunately, since this was a border city, the Xiliang government did not prohibit the sale of border city maps.

“So, did you find it?” The moment she saw him scan the entire map, the woman immediately asked.

Feng Qingbai looked up. The woman was sitting across from him, almost half-lying on the table, staring at him with eager eyes.

“Shengsheng, do you want to kill Xue Qinglian or save him?”

  Liu Yusheng, “…”

“I really want to kill him right now.”

“….” Liu Yusheng silently straightened up, moved closer to him, and playfully massaged his shoulders and back, whispering softly, “Does this make you feel better?”

The man lowered his gaze, saying nothing.

Thinking a moment, Liu Yusheng then moved behind him, leaned close, pressed her whole body against his back, and hugged him tightly, pouting, “Husband, My Lord, Brother Axiu?”

Her soft, sweet tone was just like when she was a child, sweet enough to make one’s heart melt.

Feng Qingbai’s mouth twitched upward almost imperceptibly.

It was only at times like this that Shengsheng would call him husband or Brother Axiu. Normally, she never acted so sweetly or coquettishly with him. Every other time, she called him Feng Qingbai—no one else ever got that privilege.

Thinking of this made a tight feeling rise in his chest; he resolved to train her properly in the future.

“This time, if we help Xue Qinglian, how about calling me Brother Axiu from now on?”

“Only in private,” Liu Yusheng said carefully, tugging at the corner of her mouth as she negotiated.

The man turned his head, half-smiling, half-serious, sending a clear message of his dissatisfaction with his eyes.

“Brother Axiu, whatever you say goes,” Liu Yusheng immediately conceded.

If she didn’t agree now, he could very well throw the responsibility entirely on her, and when would they ever find Miaojiang? When would they ever remove the Gu from Xue Qinglian?

The Life Link Gu hanging over Xue Qinglian was like a knife dangling over his neck. None of them knew when it might drop.

To her, this was truly urgent.

Although Xue Zhong was imprisoned in the King’s Manor, none of them were currently in the capital. Only ordinary guards and servants were watching, and if something went wrong, who could predict it? Who could guarantee no unexpected complications would arise? She was genuinely worried.

Although there was no blood relation between her and Xue Qinglian, she had long considered him, like Qian Wanjin, one of her closest friends, almost like family.

She believed Feng Qingbai felt the same way. He just expressed his emotions sparingly, rarely revealing his true feelings.

Perhaps this was what friendship between men was like. It was kept quietly in the heart, rarely shown, but when the other was in trouble, they would definitely step in to help.

His presence here with her was proof enough. Otherwise, he could have chosen not to come, or even prevented her from coming.

A King, the top authority in the Nanling court, the esteemed Regent, left state affairs to venture all the way to the northwest, even crossing into enemy borderlands. This was far more complicated than outsiders could imagine. The dangers involved could only be understood by those actually there.

Thinking of this, Liu Yusheng’s eyes softened, and she couldn’t help but lean forward to press a gentle kiss to the corner of his lips.

The Feng Qingbai before her was no longer the obsessive, sickly little boy from her childhood.

Now, he was a man of his word, loyal and warm-hearted, increasingly gentle—though he had yet to realize it himself.

A light, delicate kiss, as soft as a dragonfly touching water, melted Feng Qingbai’s heart. All the jealousy he had been holding vanished in an instant.

Pulling her onto his lap, Feng Qingbai began to quietly explain the terrain marked on the map.

“To pinpoint Miaojiang’s exact location, we may need to spend a lot of time. I’ve examined this map, and none of the locations align with the terrain on the parchment map. I suspect that Miaojiang is not near Mo City, at least not around its borderlines.”

Hearing this, Liu Yusheng frowned slightly. “If the map is useless, and we have to search on our own, it would be extremely difficult to find it, right? We don’t even have a specific direction, only that it’s somewhere in the northwest. But the northwest is so vast. Searching the entire region could take years.”

But could Xue Qinglian wait that long? The constant pressure of death looming every moment could drive any normal person insane.

A warm softness pressed against her forehead, and the man placed a kiss on the center of her brow. “Don’t underestimate Xue Qinglian. With him, it’s not just facing the threat of death. Even when confronting death itself, he can still smile cheekily. His endurance is far greater than you imagine.”

  “But…”

“Shengsheng, he’s a man.” Strong, and proud.

These words made Liu Yusheng start slightly. Feng Qingbai was right—Xue Qinglian is a man.

With his proud nature, no matter the situation he faces, he doesn’t need anyone’s pity or sympathy.

  She had been overthinking.

Patting her own cheek, Liu Yusheng lifted her spirits. “It’s fine. If we can’t find it here, we’ll search every inch of the northwest ourselves. I refuse to believe that place could just disappear. Carpet-searching won’t fail us!”

Her bold declaration made Feng Qingbai twitch at the corner of his mouth. Search every inch of the northwest? Her ambition was impressive.

Even if she insisted, he wouldn’t allow them to waste that much time.

If it really had to be found, Xue Qinglian would have to do it himself.
