Chapter 490 – Bullying
Gathering up all the gloom and killing intent around him, shedding every trace of icy sharpness, Ling Juechen was left with nothing but a gentleness the Fourth Prince had never seen before.
His picturesque brows and eyes were filled with a tenderness deep enough to drown a person. His clear, spring-like gaze was fixed tightly on the little girl cradled in his arms, unwilling to part from her even for a moment. Thick, palpable affection wrapped around the two of them, as though in all heaven and earth, only they remained and everything else had faded into nothingness.
Who said the War God of Yan Kingdom was an emotionless walking corpse? Whoever said that? Bring them here to take a look!
This man was overflowing with softness and honeyed affection… Was he seeing things?
The Fourth Prince looked at the two of them radiating pink bubbles and felt his teeth ache.
“Brother Chen, now that I’m looking down at you from a forty-five-degree angle, you look even more handsome!” Gu Ye held Ling Juechen’s face, suddenly sending the roof flying all the way to the ends of the earth.
Ling Juechen pressed his lips into a smile—as if ice and snow melted and a thousand blossoms bloomed, dazzlingly beautiful. His slightly husky, magnetic voice asked gently, “So… does Ye’er think I didn’t look good before?”
“You looked good before too, but when I looked at you, it was like how you’re looking at me right now. Like this!” Gu Ye deliberately lifted her chin, flared her nostrils, and tried hard to squeeze out a double chin—without success. She was just too thin!
Ling Juechen greedily took in the girl’s lively, expressive face, the smile at his lips deepening. “You look pretty good from this angle too. You should believe in yourself. In my eyes, you’re a peerless beauty with no flaws, gorgeous from all 360 degrees.”
The Fourth Prince mimed a retching motion.
Heaven help him! The cold-faced War God saying sweet nothings?
He must have been struck by lightning to hallucinate something this absurd. No—medicine! It has to be medicine!
That little girl from the Defender Duke’s household must have given him something, making him see such unbelievable illusions. Too terrifying!
Gu Ye cupped her Brother Chen’s face, sometimes pinching his ears, sometimes rubbing his cheeks. They hadn’t seen each other in almost three months—she had missed him so much!
How wonderful it was to see his pleasingly handsome face again. How could this face grow so perfectly according to her tastes?
Look at those brows, slanting like flying strokes toward his temples—the exact shape she adored. Look at those eyes, bright as autumn water, sending silent ripples of affection, clear like a mountain spring… His gaze felt charged with electricity—one look from him and her whole body felt soft and tingly.
Then his nose—straight and sculpted, as if crafted by a master artisan following her personal specifications.
But her favorite was his lips—full and plush, that sensual little pout, looking as if they were inviting someone to kiss him.
Gu Ye couldn’t hold back. She dipped her head and planted a quick ‘mwah’ on those cherry-petal red lips.
The Fourth Prince’s eyes nearly popped out of their sockets once more.
So… his cousin and this little girl had already progressed this far! The girl was really bold—actually taking the initiative like that… tsk-tsk-tsk! He suddenly felt a bit envious.
The soft, jelly-like sensation made Gu Ye reluctant to stop. Unable to help herself, she pressed fragrant kisses across each of Ling Juechen’s features, one by one.
The Fourth Prince couldn’t stand it anymore and shouted from the side, “Have some restraint! There are other people here! What happened to your dignity?”
His voice shattered the thick romantic atmosphere between the two. Gu Ye slowly came back to her senses from the excitement of seeing Brother Chen. She turned and shot the Fourth Prince a chilling look. “People? There’s a living person here? Oh… there won’t be one in a moment.”
“Future Cousin-in-law, c-could you not scare me? My courage is small…” The Fourth Prince remembered the pill she had just fed him and broke into a cold sweat. Intestines bursting and stomach melting—how terrifying!
Cousin, save me!
Gu Ye suddenly glared at Ling Juechen, puffing up her cheeks angrily like a furious little pufferfish. “Brother Chen, why did you only come now? They were bullying me! Will you help me?”
“Who’s bullying who, exactly? You’re twisting the truth and accusing me instead!” The Fourth Prince shrank his neck pitifully, his handsome face slightly pale, looking very much like someone who dared not protest despite being wronged.
Gu Ye shot him a glare, sniffed, and her eyes reddened again. “Brother Chen, help me kill Prince Ning! I’m still so young, and he actually dared to have those kinds of thoughts about me. It’s utterly shameless—beyond depravity! Let’s drag him out and slice him with a thousand cuts, tear him apart with five horses, grind him into minced meat and use it as medicinal fertilizer, okay?”
The Fourth Prince trembled all over.
Who was the real depraved one here? He truly never expected such gory words to come out of the mouth of such a beautiful, delicate, adorable little girl. Earth was too dangerous—someone please take him back to Mars…
“Alright.” In Ling Juechen’s heart, anyone who made his little girl unhappy or upset deserved punishment—including himself.
The Fourth Prince rolled his eyes—Cousin, where is your masculine pride? Your bottom line?
“And that Fourth Prince too!” The girl’s gaze swept over him lightly. His scalp prickled, his whole body tightened, and he forced out a sycophantic smile.
“He acted as a go-between and forced His Majesty and my father to agree to send me away for a political marriage. How do you think we should punish him?” Gu Ye frowned, mentally searching through all the tortures she knew.
The Fourth Prince couldn’t help but remind her, “Future Cousin-in-law, didn’t you already give me that pill? I’ll never go against your wishes again. Can’t that be enough?”
“Brother Chen, look at him! He doesn’t feel the slightest bit of remorse!!” Gu Ye’s little face flushed with anger as she struggled to get down and teach the Fourth Prince a lesson. “Who are you calling Cousin-in-law? Say one more word and you can forget about speaking ever again!”
The Fourth Prince immediately clamped his mouth shut, showing he wouldn’t dare utter a single syllable. But inside, he harbored a tiny grievance: You’re already acting so intimate with my cousin, and you’re still afraid of people talking? Forget it—girls are just this touchy!
“Brother Chen… aren’t you tired holding me like this?” Gu Ye suddenly felt a bit shy. She had never been cradled in someone’s arms like a child before. She felt embarrassed, yet with a trace of sweetness.
“Not at all. I wouldn’t get tired even if I held you for a lifetime!” Ling Juechen raised his face to look at her, and she looked down at him. Their eyes met, overflowing with tenderness.
Suddenly, Gu Ye frowned and asked, “Brother Chen, the Fourth Prince and Prince Ning are both imperial relatives. Will I bring trouble down on you like this? Ah! We just need to silence them! If no one stays alive, no one will know it was us!”
The Fourth Prince opened his mouth, then wisely shut it again. He stared at his cousin with pleading eyes: Cousin, can you really handle such a terrifying future wife?
“Oh no! I’ve been here this long and I still haven’t seen Prince Ning. That coward didn’t run away, did he?” Gu Ye looked genuinely worried. If someone slipped through the net, that would be troublesome!
“Ye’er, do you trust me?” Ling Juechen gazed deeply at her, his beautiful eyes shimmering with a profound light.
“I do! If I can’t trust you, who else could I trust?” Gu Ye replied sweetly.
