Chapter 441 – Venereal Disease

Gu Ye leisurely sat down, slowly sipped her tea, and then slowly wiped her hands with a handkerchief…

Princess Anya rolled her eyes in frustration. “Are you a turtle or a snail? I think you’re deliberately making things difficult for me. Our conflict happened a whole year ago. Why do you still remember it? So petty!”

“Princess, you really need to work on your hot temper. I don’t even need to take your pulse to know that this is internal heat attacking your heart, manifesting externally. That’s why the pimples on your face keep coming and going. Treating only the acne is just addressing the symptom, not the root cause! You need internal regulation!” As Gu Ye spoke these words, she shook her head and waved it back and forth, like an old scholar. If she had a beard under her chin, she probably would have stroked it a few times.

Princess Anya frowned even more tightly. “Enough! Stop pretending. No matter how hard you try, you won’t pull off the demeanor of those senior doctors. Just take my pulse and prescribe some internal-regulating medicine. I have urgent matters to attend to!”

Doctor Liang who was fortunate enough to witness Miss Gu diagnosing a patient firsthand was inexplicably excited. Hearing her words, he reflected on himself.

This ‘senior doctor’ in his fifties—what mannerisms did he actually have?

“Why the rush? Stay calm. If the sky falls, there’s always a tall guy to hold it up!” Gu Ye placed her fingers on Princess Anya’s pulse and raised her eyebrows. “Princess, your internal heat is quite severe. Have you been troubled by something lately? Tell me about it. I’m kind hearted, so I can help share your worries.”

After speaking, she pulled out paper and pen from her pocket. Using her bold, flowing ‘doctor’s handwriting,’ she wrote the prescription and casually handed it to the nearby Doctor Liang.

Doctor Liang looked at it and was instantly bewildered. Miss Gu’s handwriting was far too unique. He truly could not read it!

Shopkeeper Huang had painstakingly studied Miss Gu’s handwriting before. After a long while, like solving a puzzle, he finally managed to prepare the medicine exactly as written. However, afraid of making a mistake, he didn’t wrap the medicine. He simply laid it out on the counter, waiting for Miss Gu’s confirmation.

Princess Anya opened her mouth, paused for a long moment, and finally sighed, “The filthy matters of Prince Qing’s residence; I won’t dirty your ears with them. When will you be able to prepare the external medicine and skincare products?

Send them directly to Prince Qing’s residence. You won’t be underpaid!”

Doctor Liang had heard a little about the matter concerning Prince Qing, the heir, who was also Princess Anya’s elder brother. Apparently, he had been the victim of someone’s scheme and contracted a filthy disease. Just now, Princess Anya had come to inquire whether her brother’s illness could be treated.

Doctor Liang, with decades of experience, had never heard of this disease being curable… but Miss Gu’s medical skills were extraordinary. She had cured many seemingly incurable ailments; perhaps she had a solution.

Yet… when he saw the young girl’s tender face, he hesitated. She was just a little girl, and treating a grown man like the prince for such a disease could easily affect her reputation!

Doctor Liang thought it over and over but still couldn’t bring himself to speak.

It was Gu Ye, however, who asked Yue Yuan at that moment, “Didn’t you say that the resident doctor at Jimin Pharmacy had some difficult cases to ask me about?”

Yue Yuan glanced at Doctor Liang. Gu Ye then followed her gaze to the silver-haired old doctor.

Doctor Liang hesitated briefly, but ultimately, adhering to the principle of putting the patient first, he gritted his teeth and spoke: “Miss, may I ask…do you have a method to treat venereal disease?”

After saying this, he dared not meet the young girl’s pure, clear eyes, as if he had committed some grave misdeed.

Princess Anya, who had been about to leave, immediately stopped in her tracks at his words. She perked up her ears, afraid of missing a single word from Gu Ye. Could the ‘hope’ Doctor Liang had just mentioned really lie in this Miss Gu?

Princess Anya recalled that during the hunt, the Emperor had been absent for a long period. Privately, it was said that the Emperor had suffered severe injuries, and even the Imperial Medical Bureau could do nothing—until a miracle doctor from the civilian world was summoned and saved him.

At that time, Miss Gu had also happened to appear at the hunting grounds. Could it be…Could it be that the miracle doctor was connected to her?

Thinking this, Princess Anya’s heart leapt with excitement—her brother could be saved!

Gu Ye blinked a few times and calmly asked, “Venereal disease comes in many types, with different symptoms and treatments. Senior, can you tell me which type it is?”

In ancient times, all sexually transmitted diseases were collectively called venereal disease. But in Gu Ye’s view, venereal disease could be divided into five types: syphilis, gonorrhea, chancroid, lymphogranuloma venereum, and donovanosis. Which type did Doctor Liang’s patient have?

Venereal disease was just venereal disease. Did it have many types? Doctor Liang was completely stunned.

Gu Ye shrugged. “This illness is best diagnosed in person. If the wrong medicine is used, it could be fatal! Where is the patient? Set a time for me to see him…”

Doctor Liang felt a wave of panic wash over him… How could he possibly let a teenage girl examine a patient with this kind of disease? Was her reputation really going to matter?

Princess Anya, as if grasping a lifeline, rushed forward. “Do you treat this kind of disease?”

“Of course! It’s not some incurable, extraordinary illness. Why wouldn’t it be treatable? Is the patient male or female? How long have they been ill? Are the symptoms severe?” Gu Ye asked casually, though she ultimately emphasized that an in-person diagnosis was necessary.

Princess Anya hurriedly answered, “Female! I’m not entirely sure how long she’s been sick, but the symptoms should be severe. Her body has already begun to ulcerate…”

Princess Anya was referring to the courtesan who had caused her brother to contract the disease. At Prince Qing’s residence, only one son and one daughter were legitimate—the princess and her brother, the heir, Young Prince Qing.

Young Prince Qing was upright and gentle in character; everyone in the capital praised him. He was practically the top choice for marriage among the capital’s young ladies. He had always been chaste and virtuous, never even taking the maid his mother had arranged for him.

Yet this virtuous brother of hers had been framed: an aphrodisiac was secretly added to his drink, and a courtesan infected with venereal disease was sent to him. Thinking of this, Princess Anya’s anger surged, and her whole body trembled.

Fortunately, Young Prince Qing had some wits about him. He immediately captured the courtesan after waking up. More than half a month had passed, and by the time he realized something was wrong with his body, the courtesan’s condition had already begun to ulcerate. When the doctors were called to examine her, they diagnosed venereal disease!

Princess Anya’s eyes filled with tears. After learning that he had contracted a filthy disease, her brother had locked himself in his room, refusing to see anyone. Venereal disease had never been cured before; it would eventually cause the body to ulcerate and lead to death. Her brother had been essentially resigning himself to death!

But Princess Anya could not accept this. Her brother was a talented young man with an extraordinary future. He could not fall to a scheme whose mastermind was unknown. So, she threw caution to the wind, even risking her reputation, to search everywhere for a cure for her brother.

Sadly, before today, all she had encountered were disappointments—or even despair.

When Gu Ye said she could treat this disease, Princess Anya could hardly believe her ears. Her brother could be saved: he would not die!

Tears of joy immediately welled up in Princess Anya’s eyes.
