Chapter 394: Playful Couple

Gu Ye’s gaze swept over Prince Tai’s fingers, which were being twisted by Shangguan Fei, and she gave a light nod and a smile. The dynamic between this couple was quite interesting!

  A bright smile spread across Shangguan Fei’s face as she cheerfully said, “So it turns out that there are such young and talented pharmacists! I always thought pharmacists were like that, with a big beard!”

  As she spoke, she raised her hand and pointed at the side, where Jiang Qiu, the grand pharmacist, was smiling and stroking his beard. 

Prince Tai quickly pressed her hand down and gripped it tightly on his own. He felt like crying—he had already offended Miss Gu, and now even Grand Pharmacist Jiang had been insulted by his wife. He had finally managed to speak to these two revered figures!

  Jiang Qiu’s hand froze as he stroked his beard. Was he really that old? He wasn’t even at the age of middle age yet, still in his prime, and being called someone with a ‘big beard’… 

It must be the beard’s fault!  He was definitely going to shave it off when he got back! ！

  ”My dear ancestor, the one you’re pointing to is Grand Pharmacist Jiang!” Prince Tai saw his wife raise her eyebrows and glare, looking like she was about to explode, and quickly lowered his voice to remind her.

  Grand Pharmacist Jiang? His foolish prince actually had a connection with Grand Pharmacist Jiang? Shangguan Fei showed a look of disbelief, then shifted to a suspicious expression—could it be that her silly husband had been tricked by someone?

  How could there possibly be a pharmacist who achieved fame at just ten years old? A grand pharmacist wasn’t someone anyone could just associate with! The more Shangguan Fei thought about it, the more suspicious it seemed.

  She pulled Prince Tai aside and whispered, “Are you sure they are the Grand Pharmacist and the pharmacist from the Gu family? Are they not just some thugs your so-called ‘friends’ brought in to scam you and make fun of you?”

  ”It’s absolutely true! Forget everything else, but just Grand Pharmacist Jiang alone—anyone who’s someone in the capital knows him. And his son, Brother Jiang, I’ve finally managed to make a connection with him. As for Miss Gu, Brother Jiang himself calls her ‘Little Aunt Master,’ how could I be wrong? Stop worrying about it!” Prince Tai glanced over toward Jiang Qiu and Miss Gu. When he met Gu Ye’s gaze, he immediately flashed a brilliant smile.

  Gu Ye’s senses were always sharper than most. Naturally, the conversation between this couple didn’t escape her ears. She struggled to stifle her laughter, finding it hard to hold back. She hadn’t expected that upon entering the capital, she’d meet such an interesting couple.

  Shangguan Fei gave Prince Tai a fierce glare. “How many unreliable things do you do on a regular basis? I’m just worried that you’ll fall into someone else’s trap…”

  ”Yes, yes! Wife, you’re doing this for my own good, I’m really happy about it!” Prince Tai nodded earnestly, afraid that if he was even a moment too late, his wife would grab his ear.

  Shangguan Fei shot him another glare. “What ‘wife’! Who taught you to say such nonsense!”

  She swiftly turned around and gracefully approached Grand Pharmacist Jiang, kneeling respectfully. “I apologize for any offense earlier, Master Jiang. Please don’t take it to heart. Your beard is quite impressive, it has the elegance of a scholarly gentleman… Why are you pulling at my sleeve?”

  The last sentence was directed at Prince Tai and said in an exasperated tone.

  Seeing the slightly awkward expression on Grand Pharmacist Jiang’s face, Prince Tai smiled apologetically at him, then quickly pulled his wife aside, whispering, “Can we just skip over the whole beard issue?”

  ”What’s wrong with that?  I was praising his beard, wasn’t I?” Shangguan Fei frowned and impatiently shrugged him off.

  Prince Tai could only smile helplessly. Was that really how you compliment someone?

  Gu Ye couldn’t help but laugh quietly to herself. This couple was certainly a pair of live wires! As for Prince Tai, the spoiled rich man of the capital, she didn’t dislike or reject him at all.

  Seeing that neither Gu Ye nor Grand Pharmacist Jiang seemed offended, Prince Tai sighed deeply with relief. Luckily, neither of them was hard to please. Otherwise, his blunt-mouthed wife would have offended them both by now!

  As a grand pharmacist, Jiang Qiu was used to maintaining a certain distance from others.  His demeanor gave off an impression of aloofness and coldness. On the other hand, Miss Gu was much more approachable. Prince Tai decided to start with her and build a good relationship.

  ”Little Aunt Master, ahhh…” Prince Tai winced and pulled his wife’s hand, which was gripping his thigh like a vice. He adjusted his expression and continued, “Aunt Master, you’re new to the capital, let me give you the chance to experience the local hospitality. No one knows where the best food and fun are in this city better than I do.”

“Didn’t I just suggest you find a secluded mountain temple to cultivate your mind and body? Do you even have the time for that?”

 Upon arriving in the capital, Gu Ye was also eager to walk around and take in the sights of the imperial city. No one was better suited to the role of ‘tour guide’ than a local rich young master like Prince Tai!

Upon hearing this, Prince Tai saw an opportunity! He hurriedly said, “My condition has been around for a while, so there’s no need to rush!  Besides, with you here, I’m not worried about it getting better!” Surprisingly, even a dignified prince like him had moments when he needed to flatter others.

Shangguan Fei shot him a fierce glare. When he was courting her, this fat man had never been this attentive!

This was an unfair accusation! 

In order to win the favor of this young lady from a Marquis’ manor, Prince Tai had to diligently practice horsemanship, endured many lashes and insults, all with a burning passion to win her heart! Fortunately, his princess liked horseback riding and whip dancing.  If she had liked poetry or songs, this hopeless rogue, who was clueless about literature, would have had to start from the basics and study hard all the way through!

  Gu Ye watched the interaction between this warring couple with great interest, her lips curling into a smile. “Then I must thank you for your kindness.  Let’s talk more after I settle down in the capital!”

  Prince Tai wagged his tail happily. “Alright, it’s settled then!  Have you arranged a place to stay in the capital?  The inns in the east district are all full due to the Great Pharmacists Convention event. Only those with a good eye still have rooms available. I have an empty house in the East District. If you don’t mind, you can stay there temporarily!

  Shangguan Fei widened her eyes: Honestly, what’s your purpose for owning a house in East District? Are you planning to hide a beautiful woman there?

  Prince Tai’s chubby face broke into a cold sweat.

This is another misunderstanding! The house was one I won in a bet with someone, not one I bought. Really, just look at my sincere, honest face!

  Gu Ye pretended not to notice the silent confrontation between the two, smiling as she politely declined: “No need to trouble you. We already have a place to stay in East District. Once my grandfather’s house in West City is ready tomorrow, we’ll move there.” 

  ”Good, West City is better!  It’s close to our Prince Qi Manor!” Prince Tai beamed even wider, as if he had found a priceless treasure. Shangguan Fei shot him another glare: Disgusting! Your smile is so lewd! Anyone who didn’t know might think her husband had some ulterior motives toward the young lady!
