Chapter 393: Catching the Affair

Prince Tai felt like he could fry an egg on his face. He never imagined that the usually uninhibited him would encounter someone even more formidable than himself—and that person was a young girl. His mental fortitude, he had to admit, was no match for hers! 

In a very soft voice, he said, “You… you mean all those symptoms, I have them…” 

“Tsk tsk! You’re really in trouble!” Gu Ye shook her head repeatedly. 

Prince Tai’s heart almost sank to the bottom. 

What did it mean when a doctor shook their head? Was he really beyond help? Thinking of how the imperial physicians were also at a loss for his condition, Prince Tai barely held back tears, forcing himself not to burst into sobs!

  ”However!” You should be grateful you met me!” Gu Ye’s next sentence gave him hope again. “However, you must promise to cooperate with the treatment unconditionally!”

  Upon hearing this, Prince Tai’s spirits shot up like a rollercoaster, from the abyss of despair to the dawn of hope. He quickly nodded and slapped his chest, promising to follow her every instruction to the letter, without the slightest hesitation.

  Gu Ye nodded, pulling out a bottle of Liuwei Dihuang Wan from her light sleeve. She stopped him from looking at her sleeve, and with a serious face, she solemnly said, “Take these consistently. During the treatment period, you must abstain from alcohol and sex, and practice celibacy for six months!”

  Prince Tai took the bottle of medicine, and upon hearing her words, he couldn’t help but bitterly smile inside: Even if he didn’t want to practice abstinence, he was now powerless to do otherwise.

  ”Also, to avoid all the temptations around you, I suggest you choose a remote mountain temple to cultivate your body and mind, and make a habit of running every day to strengthen your body. Oh! You shouldn’t use overly strong supplements to make up for it…” Gu Ye listed the precautions for kidney disease as though reciting a well-rehearsed speech.

  Prince Tai was diligently taking notes, even asking his servant to bring paper and a pen to write down all the instructions. He would post them by his bedside and read them a few times a day to strictly follow the advice.

  While he was bowing his head and listening attentively to Gu Ye’s instructions, a small commotion occurred outside the entrance of Qingfeng Pavilion. 

As a multi-tasker, Gu Ye was giving medical advice while casting her gaze outside the door.

  A stunning beauty, dressed in fiery red riding attire with a sizzling figure, and holding a long whip, stormed in with a powerful presence. She raised an eyebrow. Could someone be here to cause trouble at Qingfeng Pavilion?

  The red-dressed beauty scanned the hall with her beautiful eyes and quickly fixed her gaze on Gu Ye. 

With a slight furrow of her brows, Gu Ye clearly saw a cluster of flames burning in her eyes, her angry face flushed with fury. The beauty marched swiftly towards her.

  She was puzzled and took a closer look at the red-dressed beauty’s striking face.  She didn’t recognize this person at all! But she was definitely heading her way! Seeing the beauty’s hand gripping the whip, veins bulging, it seemed she was preparing to lash out at someone.

  Wait! Beauty, we don’t know each other, so why this big show of force? Beauty, are you sure you have the right person?

  The red-dressed beauty approached her, carefully sizing her up from head to toe before raising the long whip high. Gu Ye  slightly shifted her body, hiding her slender figure behind the bulky fat shadow of Prince Tai.

  She sighed inwardly. The capital city is truly terrifying. She had only just stepped into the city a couple of hours ago, and not only did she nearly get trampled by a horse, but now she was facing someone unreasonable who, without a word, was ready to strike first…

Are people in the capital all this arrogant?

  Perhaps it was the overpowering aura of the red-dressed beauty, but the entire hall fell silent, as if no one was there. Prince Tai, only realizing the situation now, turned around just in time to see a whip coming toward his face. He quickly reached out to grab the whip’s end, ready to snap. But when he saw who it was, it was as though the air had been let out of a balloon—deflated.

  ”Fei’er, you… what are you doing here?” He cautiously asked, gently taking the whip from her hand, his face wearing a fawning smile. Gu Ye, however, clearly caught the love and warmth that flickered in his eyes.

  The red-dressed beauty no longer had a weapon in hand, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t still deal with Prince Tai. She reached out her fair, jade-like hand, tightly pinching Prince Tai’s ear and giving it a sharp twist. With a soft yet stern voice, she scolded:

  ”Didn’t you promise me that you’d cut ties with those fox friends and scoundrels and stop causing trouble? Today, I had someone invite a doctor to prepare medicine for you, and after waiting for so long, you didn’t return—do you know how hard it is to invite a Level 9 doctor? I had to use all my family connections just to get this doctor… and yet, you’re here drinking and flirting with a young girl at Qingfeng Pavilion!”

  Flirting with a young girl? Where’s the young girl? Gu Ye looked around hesitantly and pointed at herself? 

Prince Tai was shocked, forgetting the pain in his ear as he quickly covered his wife’s mouth, flashing a smile at Gu Ye.

  Just as he was about to apologize, a sharp pain shot through his hand. He let go of his wife, shaking his hand and hopping on the spot. Gu Ye glanced over—this red-dressed beauty was truly ruthless, she had even drawn blood!

  ”You’re still embarrassed? If you’re afraid of embarrassment, why did you do it?” The red-dressed beauty pointed at Gu Ye and shouted at Prince Tai, “How could you lay a hand on such a young girl? Hmph! I see it now, you can’t change your ways! I shouldn’t have agreed to your marriage proposal in the first place!” 

  ”Fei’er, Fei’er! Calm down, calm down!” Prince Tai hurriedly tried to stop his wife, afraid that she might offend Miss Gu again, as he had just managed to gain her forgiveness. “This is Miss Gu from Gu Pharmaceuticals, a disciple of the Sage Apothecary! I’m here asking her for treatment advice! Don’t you believe me? Look!”

  The woman in red, Shangguan Fei, shifted her gaze to the list of instructions written by the servant, carefully reading it for a long time before gently folding the paper and putting it away. She’d handle making sure her husband followed through on his tasks from now on.

  ”Gu Pharmaceuticals? Is it the one that makes the Jade Dew Beauty Pills, which are always sold out as soon as they hit the market?” The red-clad beauty, Shangguan Fei, scrutinized Gu Ye with curiosity and admiration, but her gaze wasn’t offensive.
