Chapter 734: It’s You!
“He does always wear a cloak, speaks in a monotone, cold and emotionless, with a very strange personality. Nannan, do you know him?”
Hearing her mention Heilian, Liu Yusheng felt relieved.
Heilian wouldn’t harm her family.
She had just checked, and indeed, her entire family had simply been made drunk—intentionally.
There had been something added to the food that quickly put them into a drunken state, but once they woke up, they’d be fine. It wouldn’t harm their health.
“Nannan, since you know that person, do you know why he made Grandpa and Grandma fall asleep like this?”
“My guess? It’s probably one of his pranks.”
“……”
Feng Qingbai had been standing by the door the entire time, and his expression darkened the moment Fu Yuzheng mentioned Heilian.
Hearing what Liu Yusheng said next made his face turn even darker.
What prank? Clearly, it was just a childish trick to get Shengsheng’s attention.
To make sure she keeps remembering him!
Childish!
“By the way, Sister-in-law, where’s Xiao Maodou?”
“He’s with Young Master Qian. He’s waiting at the restaurant with Zhiqiu and Muqiu. I left him in Muqiu’s care before heading to the execution grounds,” Fu Yuzheng explained. She hadn’t dared to bring the child along.
In such a dangerous situation, seeing her holding the baby would have only made Zhixia feel even more guilty.
Besides, she couldn’t risk taking the child into danger.
As they were speaking, a booming voice echoed from outside the courtyard gate.
“Lucky Nannan, you’re finally back! Do you have any idea what we’ve been through? It was like a battle of wits and nerves—thrilling and dangerous!”
“You old rascal! Feng Qingbai, why are you just standing there like a door god? Move aside—I want to see Lucky Nannan!”
“Qian Wanjin?”
“Of course! It’s your grandpa Qian here!”
“Heh, where did you find the guts to run out looking like that? If I were you, I’d head straight back to get a complete makeover.”
“…Feng Qingbai, go to hell, you scoundrel!”
Hearing the long-missed, familiar bickering, Liu Yusheng’s lips curved into a smile.
Everything had returned to normal.
The whole family reunited once again in the capital.
A moment later, Liu Yusheng helped sober up the people who had passed out.
What followed was a scene too chaotic to describe.
As soon as she saw her little granddaughter, Grandma Liu burst into tears with a loud wail, crying so hard the house seemed to shake.
Tears and snot—she wiped it all over Grandpa Liu.
The younger generation stood nearby, twitching at the corners of their mouths, too stunned to say anything.
When had their grandma ever cried like this before? She must have truly been wronged.
Oh, how it broke their hearts.
While the crying echoed through the kitchen like thunder, Feng Qingbai quietly gestured to Wei Zi and the others.
Wei Zi, Wei Hong, and Wei Lan immediately leapt off in all directions, searching the corners of the courtyard.
“Feng Qingbai, is there something wrong with this courtyard?” Liu Zhiqiu frowned, his body instantly tensing in alertness.
Their grandma wasn’t even done crying yet. Who dared to stir up trouble now?!
Feng Qingbai glanced in a certain direction, the corner of his lips curving up slightly. “The courtyard is fine, but someone doesn’t seem willing to leave.”
Well, then let them stay.
With that, his figure blurred as he flew toward the spot he’d been watching.
Liu Zhiqiu immediately followed, though his qinggong weren’t quite on Feng Qingbai’s level, so he half-leapt and half-dashed after him.
He wasn’t worried about the kitchen; Shi Xianrou was there to handle things.
At a hidden, inconspicuous corner at the back of the house, Feng Qingbai forced someone out of the shadows.
Their eyes met, and both gazes glinted with coldness.
“What’s this? Have you decided to be a shadow on the wall now? Eavesdropping too?”
“Hmph.” The man snorted coldly, not bothering to argue with Feng Qingbai and turning to leave.
Swish! A soft sword slashed through the air, blocking his path.
“If you want to leave, beat me first.”
The man tilted his head, his expression completely blank as he stared at Feng Qingbai. Then, in the next instant, he struck, swift as lightning.
Liu Zhiqiu arrived a moment later, just in time to see the fight already in full swing. By then, the figures were moving so fast that he could only tell them apart by the colors of their clothing as they blurred through midair.
The longer he watched, the wider his eyes grew, his mouth half-open in astonishment.
Whoa, now this is what a real duel between masters looks like!
It was way more thrilling than watching Aunt Hong and Uncle Lan spar!
He stood below, completely mesmerized by the fight. Before long, the commotion drew the others from the kitchen. One after another, they came following the sound of the fight.
“What’s going on? Why are those two fighting?” Grandma Liu’s voice was still hoarse from crying, and she spoke with a hiccup from the leftover sobs. “Nannan, that person helped us a lot. Don’t let Axiu hurt him too badly.”
“Grandma, don’t worry, he won’t get hurt,” Liu Yusheng reassured her.
What she said was true, but the rest of the mouths of the Liu family couldn’t help but twitch in disbelief.
Not get hurt? What nonsense was she talking about? Who could possibly walk away from a fight like that unscathed?
They couldn’t clearly see who was hitting who up there, and no matter who got hit, their hearts tightened with worry.
From the rooftop to midair, and from midair back to the rooftop, neither side was holding back at all. The battle raged on fiercely, the outcome locked in a tense stalemate.
With a final clash, both fighters suddenly retreated, standing at opposite ends of the rooftop.
Crack.
A faint but distinct sound echoed as the cloaked man’s mask suddenly split in half and fell away.
Along with it slipped a thin layer of human-skin disguise from inside the mask.
The Liu family just happened to be standing directly below. Even though the man’s head was still partially hidden under his cloak, from this angle, they could clearly see his face!
The man tried to quickly cover his face with his sleeve, but it was too late.
“I-I-I—what the hell! I can’t believe this! Xue Qinglian!”
“Xue Qinglian—it’s actually you!”
The people below were utterly stunned, their faces frozen in shock.
So that was why he helped them out of nowhere! It turned out that this guy was Xue Qinglian all along!
Across from them, the moment the man revealed his true face, Feng Qingbai’s eyes narrowed sharply as he stared intently at him.
Now that he had been seen, the man stopped trying to hide. He lowered his gaze to look at the people below, let out a cold snort, and leapt off the rooftop to leave.
“Hey, you bastard! Think you can run after getting exposed? You hung me off the side of that ship that day. Come back here and settle that score properly with me!”
“After him! You little punk! I might forgive other grudges, but you turned me into a pig-faced mess on purpose, didn’t you? Admit it! You were jealous I’m better looking than you! Take this!”
Without waiting, Liu Zhiqiu and Qian Wanjin chased after him, dragging Wei Lan and Wei Hong along for backup.
They weren’t about to charge ahead alone and risk getting beaten up. No way!
If they had backup, they might have a fighting chance.
Damn it! So he was faking it the whole time! All that talk about not being good at martial arts—yeah right, can’t fight my ass!
The four of them rushed forward and blocked the man’s path.
“Move,” the man raised his eyes and commanded coldly.
“Uh-huh, still putting on airs, huh? Even now? Xiao Qiu, Dalan, let’s go! Let’s beat him until he’s crying and begging for mercy!” Qian Wanjin shoved Wei Lan forward as the first to strike.
In an instant, the five of them were tangled in a brawl.
Behind them, the entire Liu family slowly wandered out, still a bit dazed. Their eyes remained glued to the man in the fight.
“Nannan, is that really Qinglian? The Qinglian who lived in our courtyard?”
Liu Yusheng nodded and pulled a stool over for the elders to sit and watch the show. “I guess so. His face looks the same, but this guy told me his name is Honglian.”
“Honglian? So, is he Qinglian or Honglian?”
Resting her chin in her hands, Liu Yusheng smiled as she watched the brawl unfold. She didn’t answer the question. Perhaps… he was both?
Meanwhile, as the intense gaze from the sidelines lingered on him, the man’s movements gradually stiffened and slowed down. Suddenly, he clutched his head, and his expression shifted!
When he raised his head again, the cold, distant look had vanished.
TL’s Corner: And there we have it. Honglian, Qinglian, Helian!!
