  Chapter 455: Once Kidnapped

  ”Ask,” Liu Zhiqiu replied concisely.

  ”It was that time in Luxi Village. You…I saw you take Junyue and beat someone.”

  ”Oh.” Is this also worth asking?

  Liu Zhiqiu sneered inwardly. He didn’t understand what this woman was thinking in her head. What was there to ask?

  It was just beating up a scum.

  His I-don’t-give-a-shit attitude made Kang Ziyu angry and deeply displeased.

  ”Junyue is a young lady from a big family. She’s simple and unworldly. How could you take her to beat someone up?!”

  ”So what?”

  ”Anyway, hitting someone is wrong! It’s even more wrong for you to bring Junyue along to assault someone!”

  Liu Zhixia bared his teeth and rolled his eyes. “I’ll beat whoever I like. If you think it’s wrong, come and arrest me. Isn’t your father the magistrate?”

  ”You!” Kang Ziyu suppressed the emotion that was about to flare up. She bit her lip and remained silent for a long time before turning her face on the spot. “Why did you beat up Wang Jinhui?”

  ”I found him unpleasant to the eye, so I beat him up.

  There really was no hope in continuing this chat.

  Didn’t she just slap him? Did he have to render her speechless whenever he spoke?

  On the latter part of the journey, she did not talk to Liu Zhiqiu. Liu Zhiqiu was also delighted to clear his ears.

  The carriage ride from the county to Cangwu Town took less than half an hour. When the carriage stopped in the town, Kang Ziyu jumped down without saying a word. When she left, she didn’t even say a word to Liu Zhiqiu.

  Liu Zhiqiu didn’t care. Seeing her disembarking the carriage, he shook the reins, and the carriage moved again, leaving a haze of dust to the woman behind.

  Kang Ziyu was so angry that her face turned black.

  When she arrived at the Li residence sullenly, she looked for a servant and asked for Li Junyue’s location. She happened to bump into several sisters from other branches of the Li family.

  ”Sister Ziyu, are you here to look for Junyue again?”

  ”Yes, where is she?” Kang Ziyu asked.

  The Li family sisters exchanged a glance. “She seems to have gone in the direction of the back garden earlier. We don’t know if she’s still there at this time. Sister Ziyu, you can go and look for her.”

  Seeing that Kang Ziyu was about to run back to the garden, someone commented, “Sister Ziyu, you are very kind to Junyue. You come to find and play with her whenever you have time, but you should be careful, Sister Ziyu. Some people aren’t as simple as they seem. You’re willing to treat them nicely, but they might actually have been calculating to use you.”

  Kang Ziyu stopped in her tracks and frowned at the sisters: “What do you mean?”

  The sisters showed hesitant and tangled looks on their faces. They seemingly deliberated several times before speaking with hesitation, “I heard that Sister Ziyu had been kidnapped before…”

  Kang Ziyu’s face instantly turned grim, and her eyes became sharp: “Who’s been talking nonsense to you?!”

  She was so forbidding that the sisters across from her shrank in fear. Someone dug up the courage to say, “Sister Ziyu, your matter should be top secret, and not many people know about it. We’re all ladies. In the Li residence, who else do you think know the reason and tell us the secret?”

  ”Sister Ziyu’s kidnapping is definitely not simple. Otherwise, how could it be so coincidental that she was saved by a person who had no connection with her?  Think about how many benefits Junyue has gained over the years because of your care. Sister Ziyu, you should understand.” 

  After giving these people a fierce glare, Kang Ziyu didn’t say a word and ran quickly towards the back garden.

  She has been to Li Mansion countless times over the years and was very familiar with the topography of the residence.

  The Li sisters’ words kept reverberating in her ears, and she was confused whether to believe them or doubt them.

  Believing the Li sisters was the same as doubting Junyue.

  Could the person who had been her sister for so many years really be scheming to take advantage of her?

  She knew that her identity was higher in the eyes of local wealthy families like the Li family. So it was only natural for Li Junyue to gain some care from her after befriending her. She didn’t mind it. 

  But if Li Junyue approached her with a purpose from the very beginning, she really didn’t know how to face her.

  In the back garden, another scene was unfolding.

  Li Junyue was indeed there. When she was in a depressed mood and couldn’t go out, she would choose to go to the back garden for a walk when no one was around.

  She’d been trying her best to avoid the other sisters in the family.

  However, she couldn’t evade the one in front of her.

  By the artificial lotus pond in the back garden, she collided face to face with Li Junhua.

  She was also alone.

  Li Junyue did not want to confront her and wanted to go around after saluting her, but Li Junhua blocked her and refused to let her pass.

  ”Why is Sister Junyue in such a hurry to leave? Are you afraid to see me?”

  ”Big Sister, you must be joking. I’m just tired of strolling here for a long time and want to go back and rest for now, so I won’t disturb Big Sister’s pleasure of enjoying the flowers.”

  The back garden of the Li Mansion boasted a beautiful scenery of flowers.

  It had a lotus pond, but the blooming season for the lotus had yet to arrive. Nonetheless, the newly grown lotus leaves were green and verdant. With leaves connected after leaves, the whole lake was dotted with green clothes, forming all sorts of scenery with hundreds of flowers by the lake. It was very beautiful at a glance and made people relaxed and happy.

  Li Junhua gave a couple of chortles: “I thought Sister was afraid of me. I heard that you talked to Grandmother about you wanting to be part of a country family in Xinghua Village. Sister, why are you downgrading yourself like this? You’re perfectly alright as a good and noble lady. Do you have to go to such a nook and cranny to be a country bumpkin who lives with the dirt? Also, don’t you mind the smell?”

  Li Junyue folded her hands in front of her and curled her fingers tightly. She lowered her head and slowly walked around Li Junhua’s side again.

  ”Sister, enjoy the scenery. I won’t disturb you. I’ll first go back to my room.”

  ”Li Junyue, do you like that man named Liu Zhiqiu? After I heard of this, I specially asked someone to inquire about him to see who could make my good sister willingly condescend to marry beneath her station. I thought he’s such a wonderful person. Unexpectedly, he was a savage who ran home to carry a hoe handle half way through his studies. He can do nothing but farming. He’s rude and vulgar. He’s born in a humble background. I don’t even think he’s worthy of licking my shoes. So tell me, Sister, what exactly do you see in him?”

  Li Junhua asked as she twisted and plucked the flower petals from the flower blooming in front of her. She put it down under the tip of her nose to sniff while letting out a giggle, extremely mocking Li Junyue.

  She did not notice that the woman behind her, who had already walked past her, stopped in her tracks with a cold glint flashing in her eyes.

  Li Junyue turned around, walked back and approached the woman standing by the lotus pond picking flowers with bare hands. Her face was calm and cold.

  By the time Li Junhua noticed the movement behind her, her footsteps had already stopped beside her.

  In the next instant, a violent force vigorously attacked the back of her waist and pushed her forward. 

  ”Ah! Li Junyue! Ah! Cough!” Li Junhua plunged into the pond. She floated in the cool lake water and looked at the woman standing on the bank in horror and disbelief.

  ”Li Junyue, you dare push me! I won’t let you go! Help, help, ahh!”
