FID – Chapter 287

Xiao Shitou? Liu Yusheng covered her mouth and snickered.

Shi Xianrou, the person who was conferred such a nickname, was the only one who’d spoil Young Master Qian.

She followed Qian Wanjin and surveyed the entire Qian Mansion while walking along.

It was worthy of being the second richest family in Nanling.

The residence’s decoration could be described as magnificent; the entrance corridor pillars were lacquered gold.

The garden of the rockery in the courtyard was built to a luxurious array.

Liu Yusheng vaguely understood how Qian Wanjin’s taste was raised. It was no wonder his clothes were embroidered with gold thread, not to mention the gold glitters on his carriage.

It was all about showing off wealth.

The elders of the Qian family gathered in the hall when they heard of Liu Yusheng’s visit.

When Liu Yusheng arrived through the long corridor, what she saw was a room full of people.

The two elders sitting at the top were both gray-haired, but in good spirits. The old man also had a red glow on his face, looking very healthy.

Sitting at the bottom right, was Qian Wanjin’s father, Qian Baihao, Master Qian.

They previously met once in Xuzhou. He still carried that elegant rich merchant temperament. He wore a natural smile, but his eyes were introspective and shrewd.

Beside Master Qian was a noblewoman in her forties. She was fair-skinned and well-maintained, with the temperament of a Jiangnan beauty, seemingly gentle and frail.

Liu Yusheng fathomed that she should be Qian Wanjin’s mother. She had known Qian Wanjin for so many years and finally got to meet her for the first time today.

On the left side, there was also a woman sitting. Compared to Qian Wanjin’s mother, she was much younger around her thirties. Her delicate makeup accentuated her beautiful appearance, and she was wearing a crimson dress – very dignified.

At first glance, she exuded the aura of the lady in charge more instead of Qian Wanjin’s mother.

The woman was sitting next to a young man, handsome and civilized, with some of Master Qian’s elegant temperament. However, his eyes were too feminine, unduly evasive. He seemed to be keeping up appearance but lacking the “backbone” to support his appearance.

When they saw Liu Yusheng step into the hall, the people in the room got up and saluted her.

Liu Yusheng paused before remembering that she was now a County Lady.

Although her rank was low, merchants must also salute those with official ranks.

“Miss Liu, you came to the capital for many days, and I have been waiting for you to come to the door. We finally can welcome you today,” Qian Baihao spoke first.

Liu Yusheng laughed helplessly. “Don’t say that, Master Qian. I have always wanted to come, but I can’t come empty-handed. I didn’t prepare until today, so please don’t blame me, Master Qian. I’m here to meet the elders of the Qian family.”

After the polite greetings, Qian Wanjin introduced the people in the hall, which was consistent with Liu Yusheng’s guess.

On the seats were the Qian family’s elders, Mr. and Mrs. Qian Baihao. The young woman on the other side was Qian Baihao’s concubine Wang, and her son Qian Kaiyin.

The Qians ability to give names made people unable to raise any complaints.

After guiding the young girl to her seat, Qian Wanjin asked curiously, “You can come whenever you want to our house. What else do you need to prepare? You always regard us as outsiders. Quickly take out what you have prepared and let me have a look.”

Liu Yusheng smiled at him. “I can’t show it to you now. It isn’t for you.”

“What can’t I see for my family? You’re so mysterious.” Having said that, Qian Wanjin in the end did not make things difficult for her and ordered the servants to serve tea. “No other tea, just get the herbal tea that I brought back. I still have a little left in my room.”

“Didn’t you say you had finished drinking it? I even asked you last night, but you even lied to me?” The grandmother at the top suddenly stared at Qian Wanjin, but her questioning turned out to be this. Liu Yusheng was a bit overwhelmed by her reaction.

Qian Wanjin bristled, “If I tell you the truth, can I still keep the tea? Every time you get it, grandma, you always scoop more than half of it. Forget about it. I only kept a little bit, so don’t get any ideas, okay?”

“I am getting old. Do you know how to respect the elderly? How many years have I gotten left to live…”

“Grandmother, you are growing more vigorous with age. The more you live, the younger you are. You will live a long life as an old witch. You still have to see me have children, right?” Qian Wanjin wasn’t at all afraid and playfully retorted, coaxing his grandma in passing.

It was evident that he was accustomed to such conversations.

The old woman was rendered speechless. She was dumbfounded, but was neither angry nor smiling.

The grandpa at the top of the table laughed at this juncture. “We’ve made Miss Liu laugh. It’s really because the tea this kid brought back is good. Every time he brings some home, the family has to grab a share. I heard that you concocted the herbal tea yourself. Isn’t that true?”

Liu Yusheng nodded and smiled. “Indeed, I concocted them myself. I usually brew them for my family elders to drink, which keeps them in good health.”

“Yes-yes, to keep in good health!” Elder Qian laughed. “That tea is really exceptional. It looks inconspicuous, and the benefits only manifest after drinking for a period. I used to travel south and north for business, and I suffered all kinds of problems in my bones since I’ve gotten old. My hands and feet got cold. When the rainy days came, I felt so painful that I didn’t even want to go to bed. After drinking this tea for less than two months, I obviously got better. It’s more effective than the medicine prescribed by the imperial doctors!”

“Miss Liu, did you bring tea for your visit this time? If you brought some, please give me some. I can buy it with silver!” The grandmother said.

The gentle woman beside Qian Baihao also used a handkerchief to cover the corners of her lips and softly look at her, “If Miss has some, I can also buy some with silver. I  have been poor health these years and was often bedridden the first few years. But after drinking your tea, I was able to get out and walk around.”

This scene made Liu Yusheng want to laugh and cry.

She came to visit, but before she could say anything else, how did the conversation turn to tea?

“If you, elders, like it, I will concoct some more and send it over later.”

Liu Yusheng offered the tea she brought with her.

Elder Lady Qian immediately snatched the jar over, hugging it in her arms with a big smile of satisfaction. “Good, good. When you have concocted it, I’ll let Wanjin personally come and get it!”

Little girl, this means concoct when you return. By then, I will let Wanjin buy more materials, so you can make as much as you want!

They chatted and laughed, and the atmosphere in the hall was cordial.

A few moments later, the concierge came again to report. “Young Master, Miss Shi has arrived.”

Qian Wanjin, who was still lazily slumped in his chair, immediately rushed out with a swoosh. “My fried spring rolls! I’ll go check it out!”

He was so fast that people could not react, followed by bursts of puffing laughter from the hall.

Liu Yusheng looked at the sky. It turned out that Shi Xianrou came so early every day to deliver love to the young master.

The results seemed remarkable.

Qian Wanjin was not far from falling.

Soon, the two people she was secretly thinking about walked in side by side. Qian Wanjin was holding a greasy paper bag in his hand and eating fried spring rolls in one hand while walking.
