FID – Chapter 279

In the room, Liu Yusheng also served some dishes for the man.

He was disturbed right after starting the meal, and he didn’t get to eat anything at all.

“That man just now called you Imperial Uncle.” The one called Feng Moyun. He should not be of the same age as Feng Qingbai.

Looking at the woman’s bright eyes, Feng Qingbai raised his eyebrows. “His father is the Seventh Prince, Feng Qingyan, the son of Consort Liu. His father is my brother, hence he has to call me Imperial Uncle.”

The corners of Liu Yusheng’s mouth twitched. “How old is Consort Liu this year?”

“If I remember correctly, 58.”

“…How old is Feng Moyun?”

“I am a year older than him.”

Liu Yusheng shut up.

Consort Dowager Liu was 58, and her grandson was 23.

She had a baby really early enough!

Feng Qingbai seemed to have seen through her thoughts and hid a smile in his eyes. “Consort Liu entered the palace at fourteen, and began to sleep at the fifteenth. She was eighteen when she gave birth to her son.”

“Oh…” Liu Yusheng’s eyes drifted, suddenly feeling a little thirsty, picked up the tea and sipped it slowly.

“Shengsheng, you’re sixteen this year.”

“Pfft!” The woman became annoyed. “Feng Qingbai!”

Muffled laughter floated gently in the compartment.

The night was already deep when they left the restaurant. The city was buzzing, and the festival really kicked off.

The streets were almost teemed with people.

Naughty children were weaving through the crowd, laughing and playing; young men and women walked in pairs, shy and reserved, with their family leisurely strolling and having fun.

With his wide-sleeves as cover, Feng Qingbai held the woman’s hand and led her into the lively crowd.

The crowd was walking shoulder to shoulder, but with him beside her, she hardly bumped into anyone.

They enjoyed the beautiful lanterns, watched the jugglers, watched people playing tug-of-war all the way, and when passing by a painted masks stall, Liu Yusheng also pulled the man and bought two face masks to wear on their faces.

There were many people playing around, so she wanted to try.

The one she bought was a horned Dan role(female role in Chinese opera) mask. After wearing it, her small face was hidden behind it.

Feng Qingbai’s was a half-face mask, covering his nose above and revealing the perfect contours of his delicate chin.

When laughter erupted from the crowd nearby, Liu Yusheng pulled the man in to have a look.

After wearing a face mask, her courage seemed to have swelled inexplicably, and her cheek also became thicker.

People shuffled to and fro, but Liu Yusheng held the man’s hand without any hint of shyness at all.

With the face mask hiding her, who would know her identity? Just do it; physical contact was forbidden in ancient times!

Not far away from them, a pair of eyes locked at their holding hands with gloomy eyes.

“A wild girl from the countryside is really shameless. She even dared to hold a man’s hand in public!” Looking at the two people drowned in the crowd, Fu Yuxian mocked with a dab of jealousy.

When Zuo Xuan took her around the restaurant, she surmised that she wanted to meet King Nanling again.

It was a pity that he only had eyes for Liu Yusheng, the dirtbag, and didn’t even notice their existence.

Zuo Xuan was probably driven crazy with resentment, watching scene after scene of King Nanling doting on another woman.

“I’m tired. I don’t want to stroll, so go play by yourself.” Zuo Xuan withdrew her gaze and suddenly said.

“Don’t want to go shopping anymore?” Fu Yuxian was taken aback. “The streets just got lively. We haven’t finished shopping yet…”

Before she could finish speaking, Zuo Xuan’s gaze stabbed her.

That gaze made Fu Yuxian’s heart shudder, but she forced a smile. “Since Miss Zuo is tired, then won’t disturb you. I’ll head home first.”

She saluted her and quickly left.

Looking at the back of the woman who fled, Zuo Xuan’s smirked sarcastically. Bitch, did she really think she really did not know what she was thinking?

She deliberately stoked her anger. Did she want to see her make a fool of herself?

When she was free, she’d come back and deal with her!

She turned around and looked in the direction of the crowd in the opposite direction. Her eyes dimmed as she walked away.

The crowd was playing a matchmaker game.

The matchmaker was clutching red threads in his hand, and men and women each would choose a thread from them. Two people who stretched a thread were destined together.

It was very simple, but also very fun.

Nobody knew whose hand lay the other end of the thread. Once a red thread was straightened, there was also a possibility that you’d end up with someone of the same gender.

Every time the men clutching the same red thread looked at each other speechlessly, the crowd would erupt in laughter.

Liu Yusheng also took pleasure watching.

“Feng Qingbai, do you want to play?”

Feng Qingbai’s mouth twitched “No.”

Then he took the woman away.

Liu Yusheng did not struggle, only pursed her lips and smiled.

She also did not want to see Feng Qingbai with someone else on the other end of the red thread.

This kind of game was just a figure of fun.

Thinking of the word fate, she shook the man’s hand. “I once heard a legend that a man and a woman who are in love walk with their back in the crowd. If they can find each other in the end, they are destined for each other. Feng Qingbai, shall we try?”

“No,” the man refused without hesitation.

“Just for fun. If you can’t find me or I can’t find you, how about meeting at the entrance of the restaurant?” she proposed, hiding a sly smile behind her mask. Without waiting for the man’s response, she freed herself from the man’s hand and turned back to the other direction. “Feng Qingbai, if you find me, you can win a gift!”

There was no movement behind her, but she could feel him watching her.

One, two, three, four … She was counting silently.

Feng Qingbai stood in the crowd, watching the girl drift away from him step by step away.

One step, two steps, three steps, four steps…

His eyes were dark, and when she was about to step out of the tenth step, he moved swiftly forward and dragged her back, fiercely confining her in his arms.

His strength was so great, leaving her almost gasping for breath, as if to punish her.

“Shengsheng, I don’t play this kind of game. I won’t hand our relationship to something as illusory as fate, destiny, or providence! In this life, I won’t let you depart from me!”

Behind the mask, the corners of the young girl’s lips curled higher and higher.

She slowly lifted her mask upward and kissed the man on tiptoes.

Feng Qingbai breathed heavily. “…Shengsheng, I did not win the gift.”

“You won me,” she said.

If she took the tenth step, and he did not catch up, she would have returned to him.

He came after her and said such moving words of love.

People were still bustling around,  and her behavior was so shocking that it even attracted people’s attention. They pointed and whispered.

She didn’t care.

With half her face covered, who knew who she was?

At this moment, she wanted to kiss him.

Feng Qingbai’s eyes turned as dark as the night, and the darkness thickened to the extreme right after the woman said that he won her.

Holding her slender waist, he slightly straightened his posture and flew away from the street, above the streams of people.

The dark, deserted alleyway was pitch black, and the night was the best cover.

Liu Yusheng did not expect the man to be so bold. They were in an alley, out of the capital street. From their position, which was in the direction of the alley entrance, they could clearly see the tide of people moving about on the street. The hustle and bustle coming from that side contrasted sharply with the quietness flowing around her, making her totally flustered.

She was so flustered that her legs went weak.

“Feng Qingbai, stop it. Let’s go. Someone’s coming over there!”
