FID – Chapter 243

Feng Mohan did not do anything all morning. He paced around his own bedchamber and ran to the entrance of the palace from time to time to have a look.

By noon, the person he’d been waiting to come made no appearance, making him so furious all over.

Aunt Liu had just arrived, and his imperial uncle left him behind.

In the past, he’d been hoping that his uncle wouldn’t be so strict with him. Now that no one was supervising him, he should be ecstatic, but this result wasn’t what he wanted. He also wanted to play with Aunt Liu.

Why should he be left in the palace and not take him with him?

Seeing the palace maidservants, eunuchs, and even the guards patrolling around, Feng Mohan coldly returned to the main hall.

Footsteps echoed outside the hall.

Feng Mohan’s ears twitched and he looked back at the eunuch who walked in. “Is it my Imperial Uncle who has come?”

Right after he asked, he remembered that his uncle didn’t need to inform him when he came here. If he came with Aunt Liu, he needn’t ask a eunuch to pass the message.

Sure enough, he heard the eunuch reply, “Your Majesty, it is Miss Fu who is asking for an audience outside the hall.”

“Aunt Zheng?” Feng Mohan froze for a moment, “Let her in.”

The frequency of Fu Yuzheng’s appearance in the palace were quite a few. When he was young, Fu Yuzheng took care of him for a period of time. Later, she would occasionally visit him. So even though her status was low, she had the privilege to go in and out of the palace.

The woman’s figure had already appeared at the entrance of the main hall while he was lost in thought.

“Aunt zheng, what brings you here?” Feng Mohan asked casually. In front of Fu Yuzheng, he need not put up a show.

“His Royal Highness went out with Miss Liu. I had nothing to do in the mansion, so I made some of Your Majesty’s favorite cakes and thought of sending them over to you.” Fu Yuzheng put down the food basket she was carrying and took out the pastries, then her voice lowered a bit. “I need to go to Qingning Palace later.”

Feng Mohan sat up straight, “There are guests in Nanling Palace and a woman among them, so I know he can’t contain himself there.”

From the age of nine, when he slowly came into contact with political affairs, his imperial uncle generally briefed him about Fu Yuzheng. He knew that she was a counterpart.

Their enemies plotted against them countless times, and they seemed to have narrowly escaped, but in fact, Fu Yuzheng had long been in cahoots with them.

On the other hand, the real crux of his uncle’s plans was unknown to them.

Thus, Fu Yuzheng’s identity as an agent was still qualified.

“The matter between the King and Miss Liu has spread throughout the capital. She summoned me and should inquire about further details of Miss Liu’s identity. I will speak at my discretion.”

Feng Mohan smiled. “Aunt zheng is a wise person. I’ll entrust it to you then.”

Only after seeing the woman leave Qiande Palace did Feng Mohan put his smile away and sighed on the table again.

Imperial Uncle had a lot of stalls to attend to. He worried people.

With his knowledge of that one, he was afraid it wouldn’t be long before his Imperial Uncle’s marriage would be on the agenda again in the royal court.

Those people would never let his Imperial Uncle marry an ordinary woman, depriving them of any benefits.

The foxes in the capital, coveting his Imperial Uncle’s position and Princess Nanling, were too many. He wondered if Aunt Liu could stand it.

When Fu Yuzheng arrived at Qingning Palace, there were people inside, talking to Consort Liu with smiles.

The granddaughter of the left minister, Zuo Xiang, and the eldest Miss of the Fu family, Fu Yuxian!

When Fu Yuzheng’s eyes fell on Fu Yuxian, her eyes shrank for a moment, and then immediately returned to calm.

“Miss Fu? Why did you come to the palace today?” After Fu Yuzheng kneeled down and bowed, only then did Consort Liu turn her face around.

“I came to the palace today to deliver cakes to His Majesty. Thinking that the Imperial Consort had helped the Fu family a lot, I felt grateful and dared to come to visit you.”

Consort Liu laughed and waved her hand. “That day, the Fu family lost power for a while, and I just lent them a hand. It’s not a big favor. Get up. It happens that the First Miss of the Fu family is here. You, sisters, haven’t seen each other for many days, so it’s time to have a good chat.”

Sisters. Fu Yuzheng forced her heart to suppress her hatred and raised her eyes to look at the woman sitting next to Consort Liu. “It’s true that I haven’t seen her for a long time. Sister, how are you and your family doing? I miss you very much.”

“Everything is fine at home. My parents are also very concerned about Sister, but unfortunately, the door of the Nanling Palace is tightly guarded, so I cannot go to visit you. I hope you won’t blame me.” Fu Yuxian possessed an honest face, looking like an innocent girl who knew nothing about the world, plus she was fond of wearing light pink dresses. She appeared younger and more innocent than Fu Yuzheng.

Although her face was not as outstanding as Fu Yuzheng, she had a sweet breath, and her smile could easily please others and lower their guard.

The only granddaughter of the grandchildren of the Left Minister’s family was Zuo Xiang She was very favored in the Minister’s house and was also outstanding in her own right. Her looks and talents were the best in the circle of powerful nobles.

She was eighteen years old, and countless people had gone to the Left Minister’s house to propose marriage. But until now, nothing was set.

At ordinary times, Zuo Xuan would have disdained to talk to her, but today was quite different. “Second Miss Fu has been serving His Royal Highness in the Nanling Palace these years. You’re regarded as an old servant beside the King. I heard that there’s a female guest in the King’s palace yesterday.  I wonder what the status of that woman is. How can she enter the door of the king’s residence?”

Fu Yuzheng took advantage of the situation to ignore the false pleasantries with Fu Yuxian. “Miss Zuo, I’m a mere servant in the King’s palace. I do not dare to question that girl’s identity.”

“Do not dare?” Zuo Xiang’s eyes coldly swept over her with the arrogance in her bones. “Are you telling me that my identity isn’t enough? From what you’re saying, I have no capacity to ask you.”

“This maid doesn’t dare.”

Three women of similar age, two sitting and one standing, each with their own wit and response between their words. Consort Liu slowly drank her tea, during which she did not say a word.

Because of others presence there, Consort Liu would not ask her about specific matters, so Fu Yuzheng did not stay long, and then excused herself.

Not long after Fu Yuzheng left the palace, she heard footsteps coming after her.

Her eyes glinted coldly.

“Fu Yuzheng, stop right there!”

Heh, she expected that this person would never let her go easily at any encounter.

She slowly turned around and masked the coldness in her eyes. “I wonder what else I can do for Miss Fu.”

There was no sarcasm in her tone.

It was Fu Yuxian who chased after her. Behind her was Zuo Xiang’s unhurried figure, a person she could not afford to offend.

Since someone was backing her up, Fu Yuxian acted unscrupulously and dared to insult her at the gates of the palace!

“What exactly is the identity of that woman in the Nanling Palace? What is her relationship with the King of Nanling? You’re flourishing in the Nanling Palace, so you can’t possibly not know this little thing!” Fu Yuxian even shed off her disguise, completely wiped off her sisterly love earlier, and spoke aggressively.

“What about if I know? What if I don’t? Why should I tell you?”

“Fu Yuzheng! You’re a lowly maid still bearing the name of the Fu family, so keep in mind your status in front of me! Don’t be shameless, just like your short-lived mother!”

Fu Yuzheng’s eyes turned stern, and she raised her hand, slapping her without mercy.

“Pop!”
