FID – Chapter 210

“Please give me your orders, Master!”

“Continue to keep an eye on him. If he leaves, report to me immediately. Also, find out all evidence of Wang Chengbin’s crimes within three days.”

“Yes!”

Before Wei Lan left, he deliberately glanced into the darkness, quite proud of himself.

That fellow, Da Hong, didn’t want him to see his master. How could he fall for it?

Once he got this job done and showed his face in front of their master a few more times, he’d be back!

Want to suppress him? Dream on!

It was already late at night. Outside the window, only the crescent moon hanging quietly in the sky scattered hazy moonlight.

Feng Qingbai sat for a while longer, got up, and headed to the inner courtyard.

He jumped into Liu Yusheng’s room through the window, but the woman had already fallen asleep. In the quiet, he could hear her shallow breathing, gentle and long.

She was sleeping soundly, or perhaps it was his breath that left her unguarded, so she was unaware of his arrival.

The woman’s brow and eyes were beautiful, and her soft silhouette is depicted in the air, and her fingers are trembling.

Feng Qingbai moved forward and sat down gently on the edge of the bed. He raised his hand to stroke the woman’s beautiful eyebrows across the air, tracing her soft contours, his fingers trembling vaguely.

His eyes that condensed in the woman’s sleeping face were deep and dark, overflowing with strenuous restraint and reluctance.

Shengsheng…

When Liu Yusheng woke up from her dream, the sky was already bright.

She raised a hand to her brow bone and scanned the room, feeling that someone had been around.

A thought popped into her head, and her heart pranced heavily. Liu Yusheng lifted the quilt and got out of bed, opened the door and ran out without even bothering to wear shoes.

She only ran two steps forward and came to a sudden halt.

Under the verdant bamboo, the man in brocade was holding a scroll with one hand at the stone table. His long slender eyes were trained towards her with a gentle smile.

The first rays of the morning sun hit him, haloing a soft layer of light.

Liu Yusheng instantly let out a sigh of relief.

He was still there.

Meanwhile, the man’s eyes paused at her feet, and his smile converged. He got up and walked towards her.

“Why did you come out without shoes?” He reprimanded, scooped her up and returned to the room.

He placed her on the edge of the bed, then squatted down and held her white feet in his palm, taking her shoes and putting them on for her.

Liu Yusheng sat quietly, looking at the man who carefully dressed her with white socks and embroidered shoes and biting her lip. “I thought you were gone.”

Just like nine years ago, she woke up and couldn’t find him any longer.

The man moved for a while without raising his head. “Shengsheng, I won’t leave without saying goodbye.”

He replied. She should have been happy, but for some reason, an astringent feeling welled up in her heart.

He wouldn’t leave without saying goodbye, but he would have to go eventually.

Feng Qingbai did not dare to raise his head, for fear that if he did it, the emotions in his eyes would seep through, giving away the message that he…would be leaving soon.

The tentacles that kept poking out of the capital indicated that there was little time left for him to stay.

For him, this short period had been stolen moments.

A moment of silence settled between them.

In fact, both of them knew very well that they would be separated.

It was just no one broached this subject all the way from Xuzhou.

Both of them were evading.

Liu Yusheng knew very well that it was extremely rare for him to stay here for so long.

Ever since the poison on Feng Mohan was solved, she knew that the day of their departure was not long in coming.

It was he who came last night, and he probably stayed by her side for a long, long time.

When she woke up from her slumber, she could still feel his scent in the air.

He must have been tormented – anguished all night, unable to figure out how to talk to her.

To say that he was leaving.

“Feng Qingbai.”

“Mmm.” He answered, softly.

A pair of slender arms wrapped around his neck without warning, and she burrowed into his arms.

“Feng Qingbai, I’ll wait for you to come back.”

His eyes flickered violently. He moved the corners of his lips to speak but was unable to make a sound, his throat clogged so badly.

He felt like his heart was gripped by something. He felt smothered and pained.

She knew – knew everything.

His Shengsheng was overly bright.

He, on the other hand, did not even dare to give her a promise!

He did not dare to promise with conviction when he would definitely return.

Making a vow and failing to do it hurt more than not saying anything at all!

“Good.” In the end, selfishness still prevailed, and he wrapped his arms around her. “Shengsheng, if I don’t manage to come back for a long time…”

Then I’ll come to you.”

If he couldn’t return, then she’d just go to him.

She’d go to his side.

Feng Qingbai tightened his arms, almost forcibly burying the entirety of the young girl into his blood and bones.

In this manner, he could overcome the sudden shock inside him a bit!

How could he not love her?

Liu Yusheng felt crushed but didn’t struggle. Instead, she drew closer to the man.

Two hearts, next to each other within the closest distance.

Their violent beating echoing loudly.

Outside the door, Liu Zhixia noiselessly retreated.

He returned to the center of the inner courtyard before calling out, “Nannan, are you up yet?”

A faint cry of pain reverberated inside, followed by the voice of the young girl, “Brother, wait, I’ll come out!”

Liu Zhixia sat down at a stone table, holding his forehead that was throbbing with a headache. There was no need to look for him to guess. Because of his sudden interruption, the house must be utterly routed.

Indeed it was.

Liu Yusheng bounced up in fright. Since the man imprisoned her so tightly, she knocked the man’s chin when she raised her head abruptly, making him grimace in pain.

Even so,she didn’t forget to drive the man away, even pushing and shooing him, “Go, go out the window. Do not let my brother see you!”

Feng Qingbai, “…” He wanted to shoo Liu Zhixia away.

The farce of this. His heart was still raging, then swoosh – a tub of ice water seemed to pour down on him. It was freezing.

Where was there a trace of sadness?

Liu Zhixia did not wait long to see Nannan coming out fully dressed. If he were to ignore the faint blush on her face that has yet to fade, he couldn’t identify any anomaly.

The man, who should have been in the house, also followed right after her and calmly walked inside from the inner courtyard door.

It must be really hard for him to get out of the courtyard and back around at such lightning speed.

“Brother, why didn’t you sleep more.” Seeing the man who arrived in the courtyard almost at the same time as her, Liu Yusheng’s eyelids twitched.

“I’m used to getting up early. But you, there’s nothing going on at home, so why did you get up so early?”

Liu Yusheng smiled dryly, “It’s not too early. It’s already dawn.” She smacked herself in the mouth.

Feng Qingbai had already walked to the table and naturally sat down beside Liu Yusheng. Fortunately, he wasn’t wearing the same clothes as yesterday.

“Have you really decided to take the path of the imperial examinations?” Feng Qingbai looked at Liu Zhixia.

The girl’s guilty conscience was written all over her face, not knowing that the man on the seat has long known. He could only speak to ease her nervousness.

“I’ve decided.” Liu Zhixia nodded. “Since I’ve made up my  mind, I can’t go forward and withdraw, letting go of the ball.”

“Then do well on the exams, and I’ll wait for you in the capital.”

“I want to see how far I can go with my skills.”

Feng Qingbai stared and met his gaze.

Nine years later, the young man who was laughing and joking with Liu Zhiqiu has shed his impetuousness and become calm and introspective, with clear eyes.

The pride in his bones was visible to anyone.
