SSB – Chapter 57.1

As soon as the words fell, the woman’s expression froze for a moment, and she quickly noticed Sang Zhi standing beside them. She instantly realized that the man was already taken and coughed awkwardly, “Sorry to bother you.”

Without waiting for a response, she quickly left, leaving the two of them standing in place.

Duan Jiaxu lowered his eyes slightly, leaned forward to meet her gaze, and reached out to take the laptop bag from her hand. Staring at her displeased expression, his lips curved downward, but his mood seemed quite good. “Are you angry?”

Sang Zhi also looked at him, expressionless, and said, “Why would I be angry?”

Duan Jiaxu suppressed a smile. “Then why didn’t you say anything just now?”

Sang Zhi was still very upset. She didn’t want to talk to him at all, walked past him, and spoke in a stiff tone, “Other people asking for your WeChat isn’t the same as asking for mine. What’s it got to do with me?”

”I didn’t give it to her, did I?” Duan Jiaxu casually followed along, not taking it seriously, “Spare me.”

Sang Zhi couldn’t help but turn back. “Did I say something?”

Duan Jiaxu thought for a moment and teased, “Well, you said you were jealous.”

“…” Sang Zhi pursed her lips forcefully, wanting to save face. “You’re the jealous one.”

Duan Jiaxu raised an eyebrow. “Are you really not jealous?”

  Sang Zhi remained silent.

”Did I misunderstand?” Duan Jiaxu said, “Why does it look so much like it?”

  Duan Jiaxu: “Really not jealous?”

Seeing that he wouldn’t stop, Sang Zhi felt that her behavior was quite obvious. After a few seconds of hesitation, she decided to be straightforward. “So what if I’m jealous!”

Duan Jiaxu was taken aback for a moment, then burst into laughter. He chuckled to himself for a while, then spoke after a moment, with a faint chuckle in his voice, “Nothing much.”

In annoyance, Sang Zhi said, “Couldn’t you just…”

  Duan Jiaxu: “Huh?”

She coldly finished her sentence, “Couldn’t you just wait for me peacefully?”

Duan Jiaxu was amused. He replied, “How was I not being peaceful?”

Sang Zhi stared at him intently.

His eyelashes were dense and long, his iris light and shallow, as if dyed with light. When he looked at people, he seemed both affectionate and enticing. There was always a casual smile on his face, as if he were teasing someone.

She directly accused him, “I just saw you flirting with that person.”

It was an extremely unwarranted accusation.

”…” Duan Jiaxu was almost rendered speechless. “What?”

Of course he wasn’t. Sang Zhi remained unchanged, accusing him seriously, “Otherwise, why would someone come up to you out of nowhere and ask for your WeChat?”

”Kiddo, are you suggesting the victim is guilty?”

Sang Zhi: “How can you mix that up?”

Duan Jiaxu: “How did I flirt? Can you describe it to me?”

Sang Zhi paused, unable to think of how to describe it. She lowered her head, pondering carefully, before reluctantly saying, “You glanced at her.”

Sang Zhi suddenly felt righteous and stern, accusing him, “Yes, you glanced at her.”

Duan Jiaxu found it amusing. “And that’s flirting?”

Sang Zhi muttered to herself, “No, it’s not that. This needs to be analyzed in context.” Then, she looked him up and down with a strange expression, “You even dressed up before coming out.”

Duan Jiaxu looked down at his short-sleeved sportswear, realizing instantly that no matter what he did now, it would be wrong. Listening to this absurd reasoning, he turned his head, chuckled, and pinched her cheek, “Petty.”

Sang Zhi frowned, “You’re the petty one.”

As they happened to exit the subway station, Sang Zhi pulled out a sunshade umbrella from her bag and deliberately remarked, “Today is super sunny.”

She glanced at him and childishly added, “I won’t shade you.”

Duan Jiaxu: “Really won’t shade me?”

Sang Zhi stayed silent for two seconds, then relented, “Well, if you want me to, I can shade you.”

  ”Please.”

Sang Zhi obediently handed him the umbrella.

Duan Jiaxu opened the umbrella, tilting it mostly towards her, and casually asked, “Have you had breakfast?”

“I had some,” Sang Zhi replied, “I drank a glass of soy milk and had a pancake.”

”Is there anything else you want to eat?”

Sang Zhi couldn’t think of anything to eat for a moment and shook her head. Duan Jiaxu thought for a moment, “Let’s buy some fruit then.”

Sang Zhi blinked: “I want watermelon.”

The two entered a nearby fruit stand.

The stand was small, but there were still quite a few customers, bustling with activity. Upon the owner’s recommendation, Duan Jiaxu picked out a watermelon. Sang Zhi didn’t stay with him, instead picking out a few plums from a nearby shelf.

Then, he went to pay while Sang Zhi waited outside.

As there were still people shopping, Sang Zhi stood in the shade outside, occupying some space and blocking others’ way. She looked around and found a shady spot under a tree. She took out her phone and checked the time.

The light in front of her suddenly dimmed, and from the corner of her eye, she could see that someone had approached her.

Sang Zhi’s initial reaction was that Duan Jiaxu had returned after buying the groceries. She raised her head, “What took you so long?”

The next moment, Sang Zhi noticed that the person in front of her was not him. She immediately held back the words she was about to say.

  It was a young man.

The man had handsome features, with a sunny smile on his face, giving off a youthful and cheerful vibe. He pointed to her phone with a bright expression, “Sorry to bother you. Can I have your WeChat?”

Sang Zhi was taken aback for a moment and instinctively replied, “I’m sorry, I already have a boyfriend.”

The man sighed regretfully and scratched his head, “I see.”

Sang Zhi’s gaze involuntarily shifted, and she noticed that Duan Jiaxu had already come out after buying the fruits. He was standing not far away, his expression inscrutable, calmly observing the scene.

After the man left, the two of them walked side by side in the direction of Duan Jiaxu’s home.

  The road was quiet.

Sang Zhi glanced at him from time to time, looking uneasy. Soon, she cleared her throat and pretended to be calm, saying, “That guy just asked for directions, and I pointed him in the right direction.”

  Duan Jiaxu: “Hmm.”

Before Sang Zhi could breathe a sigh of relief, Duan Jiaxu spoke again with a seemingly amused tone, “Were you flirting with him?”

Sang Zhi withdrew her gaze, remaining silent, and didn’t respond to the matter. Feeling extremely embarrassed because of the accusations she had just made to him, she felt awkward and didn’t know how to respond.

Duan Jiaxu continued with a leisurely voice, pretending to be casual, “Gjust went to buy some fruits.” Sang Zhi: “…”

Duan Jiaxu: “It’s only been a few minutes, can’t you be a bit obedient?”
