SSB – Chapter 13.1

Chapter 13

After those two sharp words were uttered, unexpectedly, there was no sound of the call being hung up from the receiver. Duan Jiaxu remained silent as well, scanning the shelves around him.

After a while, Sang Yan suddenly said, “Bro.”

Duan Jiaxu couldn’t be bothered to respond to him.

From the other end came the sound of a chair being dragged, then Sang Yan sighed and resignedly said, “How about I accompany you to buy something?”

  ”…”

”Okay,” Sang Yan’s tone sounded somewhat gloomy, “You come with me, alright?”

  -

Neither of them had ever been to that section of the supermarket.

Moreover, it was Duan Jiaxu’s first time in this supermarket altogether. He searched for a while and finally found the desired item on the shelf next to laundry detergent. As he was about to walk over, he suddenly noticed several women standing there, with a salesperson recommending products to them.

His steps came to a halt.

Thinking that Sang Zhi was still waiting for him, Duan Jiaxu’s eyelids twitched. He couldn’t afford to think too much and could only muster up the courage to walk over. He stood in front of the leftmost shelf, bending down to look at the pastel-colored packaging before him.

He wanted to grab any pack casually, but he was unsure where to start.

Before long, Sang Yan also found his way to this spot and stood beside him.

At the same time, Duan Jiaxu picked up a blue package and handed it to him, saying, “How about this one?”

Sang Yan relieved his inner burden and glanced at it, asking, “What does ‘daily’ mean, for daytime use?”

  ”…”

”Well, it’s not nighttime now, right?” Sang Yan irritably scratched his head and pointed in another direction, “How about that black one that says for nighttime use?”

Duan Jiaxu followed his gaze and calmly read, “400 millimeters, so it’s 40 centimeters long?”

  ”…”

  ”Wouldn’t that be too long?”

Sang Yan stared at the four characters on the packaging, furrowing his brows and said, “What does ‘dry mesh’ mean?”

Duan Jiaxu replied, “I don’t know.”

  ”And there’s soft cotton—”

The other women had already finished their purchases and left. The salesperson shifted her attention to them. She approached and asked, “Are you here to buy for your girlfriend?”

Sang Yan’s words were interrupted, and both of them glanced at her at the same time.

At this juncture, Sang Yan should be the one to answer. After all, between the two of them, he was the one most directly related to Sang Zhi. Duan Jiaxu averted his gaze and didn’t speak up.

”Not for a girlfriend,” Sang Yan didn’t follow the conventional response. His gaze swept over Duan Jiaxu, and then he hinted, “Don’t judge him by appearances.”

After a moment’s pause, he added calmly, “Actually, he’s a woman.”

  ”…”

Duan Jiaxu froze for a moment.

The salesperson’s expression visibly stiffened. “Huh?”

Sang Yan: “Don’t be like that. He may look a bit rough, but he really is a woman.”

After a few seconds, Duan Jiaxu raised his head. His peach blossom eyes slightly narrowed, appearing affectionate and ambiguous. Then, he revealed a slightly playful smile and called out, “Darling?”

Sang Yan instantly got goosebumps: “…”

”Why are you so verbose?” Duan Jiaxu chuckled lightly, pinching his cheek. “You don’t need to say anything; I understand. In your eyes, I’m the most beautiful.”

  ”…”

  -

Under the salesperson’s strange gaze and somewhat insincere recommendations, Sang Yan reluctantly maintained a calm expression and simply chose two packs, one for daytime use and one for nighttime use.

After leaving that area, Sang Yan sneered and said, “You can be so disgusting.”

Duan Jiaxu raised an eyebrow: “Is that so?”

  Sang Yan: “I almost vomited.”

”Didn’t you say I’m a woman?” Duan Jiaxu smiled tenderly, like a male fairy, and slowly said, “If I think of myself as a woman, then I should be quite beautiful, right?”

  ”…”

The two of them arrived at the section selling underwear. Sang Yan randomly picked a box and was about to proceed to the checkout.

Duan Jiaxu reminded him, “Get a set of clothes too.”

Sang Yan realized, “Did it also stain her clothes?”

  Duan Jiaxu nodded in response.

Sang Yan agreed and didn’t ask further.

They turned a corner to the clothing section, and Sang Yan casually scanned the area, spotting a set of clothes that were about the right size. Before he could pick it up, Duan Jiaxu suddenly pointed at one of the skirts and said, “Buy this one.”

  Sang Yan looked at it.

It was about the right size.

The color was almost identical to the one Sang Zhi was wearing today, with minimal difference.

Sang Yan didn’t ask for the reason behind this choice nor paid much attention to the details. He directly took the dress down.

After leaving the supermarket, the two of them returned to the restroom on the first floor.

Sang Yan called out to a woman who was about to go inside and politely asked, “Excuse me, could you help deliver this to a little girl named Sang Zhi inside?”

The woman was briefly surprised but replied, “Sure.”

  Sang Yan: “Thank you.”

Just as the woman was about to go in, Duan Jiaxu spoke up from the side and added, “By the way, could you do us another favor? She’s quite young, and she might not fully understand this.”

  ”Huh?”

Duan Jiaxu rubbed the skin on the back of his neck and after a few seconds, he continued, “Could you show her how to use it? The little girl might feel too embarrassed to ask.”

The woman understood and smiled, “Sure, no problem.”
