SSB – Chapter 12.2

Sang Zhi glanced at him and silently entered the restroom. Luckily, there weren’t many people, and the restroom was spacious. She found an empty stall, lifted her skirt, and took off her shorts and underwear together.

As she had imagined, her underwear was stained with a large patch of bright red, and the black shorts seemed to be damp as well.

Sang Zhi’s expression turned serious, and she pulled up the back of her skirt to check.

She was wearing a dark blue dress today. You could see that the color of one part of the dress was darker, but you wouldn’t notice it if you didn’t look closely.

  Sang Zhi felt devastated.

She wanted to go to the supermarket upstairs to buy some sanitary pads, but she didn’t have a single penny on her. However, she couldn’t bring herself to tell Duan Jiaxu about this situation. It was so awkward that she didn’t want to mention it at all.

Feeling like the world was collapsing, Sang Zhi stood there in a daze for quite a while. After a long time, she finally made up her mind, took a bunch of tissues from the side, and placed them in her underwear as a makeshift solution.

  Then she left the restroom.

Duan Jiaxu was still standing in his original position, looking at his phone.

He noticed her coming out of the restroom, so he put his phone back in his pocket and asked, “Ready to go?”

”Gege.” Sang Zhi hesitated for a moment, “You go ahead, I want to wait for my brother, and we’ll come together.”

Duan Jiaxu replied, “Your brother already went up.”

  Her last hope shattered.

Sang Zhi hung her head down and said, “…Oh, let’s go then.”

Feeling how abnormal she was acting today, Duan Jiaxu expressed his puzzlement, “What’s going on with you today, Kiddo?”

The impromptu decision to go out tonight was probably the most regrettable thing Sang Zhi had ever done in her lifetime.

Her menstruation came late unluckily, and there were still three adult men accompanying her.

  No one could understand her.

They’d probably think that she was just wayward and abnormal.

She accepted Duan Jiaxu’s reprimands and walked ahead in silence.

Duan Jiaxu couldn’t fathom what was going on in the mind of this child of her age. He simply assumed that she was in a bad mood and didn’t pay too much attention. As he was about to catch up with her, he glanced over.

  At that moment, right then…

He noticed that there was a darker patch of color on her dress than usual.

  ”…”

With the memories of Sang Zhi’s series of abnormal behaviors flashing through his mind, Duan Jiaxu scratched the skin under his chin and immediately stepped forward to grab her arm. He carefully chose his words and asked, “Do you have diarrhea?”

Sang Zhi stopped in her tracks, lips pursed, and looked at him with teary eyes. Soon, she lowered her head again and didn’t say a word.

Duan Jiaxu also felt a bit awkward. After several seconds of silence, he finally said, “Go back to the restroom first, and I’ll buy something for you, okay?”

Sang Zhi didn’t move, her head lowered, and her expression hidden.

”Just wait in the restroom for now,” Duan Jiaxu reassured, “It’s nothing. It’s just a small matter.”

Upon hearing this, a sense of shame overwhelmed the little girl, and the tears she had been holding back suddenly streamed down her face. Sang Zhi wiped her tears with her hand, sobbing uncontrollably, her shoulders trembling as if she had suffered a great injustice.

The awkward atmosphere was broken by her crying.

At first, Duan Jiaxu was a bit unsure of how to react, but when he saw her crying like that, he inexplicably laughed. However, he was afraid of making her even more unhappy, so he held back his laughter and asked, “Why are you crying again?”

Feeling embarrassed, Sang Zhi didn’t raise her head and continued crying to herself.

”Alright, stop crying,” Duan Jiaxu coaxed her in a low voice, “It’s not a big deal, go to the restroom and wait for me.”

She didn’t want to stay outside like this for too long either, so she nodded and choked out a “Thank you, Gege” before holding back her tears and walking back to the restroom.

Seeing her go in, Duan Jiaxu let out a sigh. He walked in the direction of the second floor. After taking the escalator, he hesitated for a moment and decided to call Sang Yan.

Sang Yan picked up quickly: “Why haven’t you come up yet?”

Duan Jiaxu found himself at a loss for words for a moment.

Sang Yan said again, “Hello? Can you hear me?”

Duan Jiaxu responded with an “Mhm.”

”All the dishes are served, why aren’t you coming up yet?”

  ”…”

Sang Yan: “Hey, say something, Bro.”

  Duan Jiaxu: “Bro, your sister—”

  Sang Yan: “What’s wrong?”

Duan Jiaxu: “I think she’s on her period.”

  ”……….”

The other end of the line instantly fell silent, as if the call had been disconnected.

Duan Jiaxu walked into the supermarket and cleared his throat.

Sang Yan finally spoke, “So, what should we do?”

”…” Duan Jiaxu’s tone sounded incredulous, “You’re asking me?”

Sang Yan remained silent for a few more seconds before saying, “It seems like there’s a supermarket on the second floor, go buy something there, Bro.”

Duan Jiaxu felt it was absurd. “So, you mean she’s my sister?”

Sang Yan said solemnly, “You are my brother.”

Implying that, My sister is your sister too.

Duan Jiaxu felt a headache coming. “Come down, you should buy intimate items. I wouldn’t know what to get.”

The air seemingly froze for quite a while.

Suddenly, Sang Yan burst out with a curse, “Damn it.”

  Duan Jiaxu: “?”

  Sang Yan: “Bad signal.”

  Duan Jiaxu: “……”

  Sang Yan: “Call ended.”

  ”…”

  Author’s note:

Duan Jiaxu: Bro, your sister thinks you look like a dog, turns out it’s not entirely unfounded.
