IHWL – Chapter 88.3

When the media tide faded, Su Jishi later realized that Mu Xiulun was standing behind the crowd.

The man in a suit stood straight, poised, holding a rose bouquet in his hand, as he walked toward her slowly.

The woman hadn’t yet removed her makeup and was still wearing her costume. At this moment, the loose and fluttering doctor’s gown over herself gave the impression of her original ‘self’.

There were other staff members in the dressing room, and when they saw that Mu Xiulun had arrived, they all left tactfully.

In a blink, only the two of them were left in the empty room.

Su Jishi’s eyes were twinkling, and she stretched out her hand with a big smile: “Is this flower bouquet for me?”

Mu Xiulun smiled and offered the beautifully wrapped bouquet of roses.

Su Jishi carried the fiery red roses in her arms. On a closer look, she discovered that each rose had a tiny gemstone wrapped around the heart of the flower. The gemstones were only three or four mm in size, so it was a wonder what method the craftsman used to set all those transparent colored gemstones in the soft heart of the flower.

The gems were dazzling, reflecting a soft glitter in the light.

“I was afraid I can’t impress you with ordinary roses,” Mu Xiulun seriously said, “So, I let someone order these gemstone roses. Do you like it?”

“…It’s quite creative,” Su Jishi responded honestly, “You inlaid minerals on plants. For having come up with this unorthodox combination, I believe your aptitude is perfectly straight.”

“…Is it bad to be a straight man?”

Su Jishi pondered over it and sighed, “Good is good. Meaning, you have to work harder at night.”

The two people looked at each other and burst out laughing at the same time.

Although Su Jishi expressed discontent, she hugged the bouquet and refused to part with it.

She asked him, “How does it feel to be a mass actor for the first time?”

Mu Xiulun asked her in return, “How does it feel to be an actor for the first time?”

Su Jishi replied, “It’s pretty hard to be on camera with no privacy.”

Fortunately, this ordeal was finally coming to an end. Measure was Su Jishi’s last performance in front of the camera, and she played ‘herself’ as Su Jin. She put on her doctoral graduation toga to rehearse her graduation ceremony in advance.

But now when she mentioned graduation, she had a headache.

Obtaining a PhD was not that easy. It was said that studying for a PhD depended on physical strength and graduation depended on luck, and a PhD in geology like hers was either digging rocks in the field or examining rocks in the laboratory.

Others were still busy with their topics. But she, after asking for an extension, ran home to be a celebrity! Even her mentor couldn’t believe it!

When she thought of the pile of data waiting for her after returning to the United States, she felt a throbbing headache.

Nonetheless, difficulties belonged to difficulties. No matter how difficult it was, it was no more difficult than mixing in the entertainment industry!!!

Su Jishi had already packed her luggage, and her return date was set for next week.

Mu Xiulun sent a private jet to send her back to the United States. If he weren’t too busy with work, he actually wanted to send her back to school himself.

After the fall of the Mu family, none of the Mu family’s children in high positions within the enterprise escaped, and all were sent to prison by Mu Xiulun. The once-vibrant EXP Mining Corporation was like a cabbage in the autumn wind. It was divided and swallowed by several other mining corporations, and Mu Xiulun naturally did not let go of this great opportunity to annex several of its subsidiaries.

This period was currently his busiest time. The new company had to integrate with the old company. Personnel transfer and resource allocation were waiting for his decisions. Today, he specially squeezed out three hours of free time to visit Su Jishi on the set, and would have to go back to work overtime later.

Once Su Jishi was back in the United States, the two would officially begin their love affair abroad.

Fortunately, they were not the kind of young sweethearts who put love first. For them, career was as important as love. They wouldn’t sacrifice love for their career, nor would they give in to their career for love.

But then again, it was truly a challenge to part with each other when they were head over heels in love.

Su Jishi suddenly inserted, “By the way, are you free in July?”

Mu Xiulun looked down and thought: “I’m not sure, I’ll have to ask Gao Ling to check my schedule. There may be appointments already made.”

Su Jishi did not say anything, put down the roses in her arms, turned around and grasped her small handbag from the table.

The handbag was not big but was more than enough to carry a hammer.

Su Jishi carried the 12oz compact hammer, looked at Mu Xiulun and asked again, “I’ll give you one more chance. Tell me, are you free in July?”

“…” Mu Xiulun immediately changed his words, “Free, for you, anytime.”

“That’s great.” Su Jishi stopped joking with him anymore. “My graduation ceremony is in July. I hope you can come.”

She said calmly, “I graduated from high school and went to the United States to study without asking my father for a penny. He said he wouldn’t pay for my tuition, and I didn’t need to pay for his retirement. So I haven’t had any contact with him since I became an adult.”

“At the graduation ceremony for my bachelor’s degree, all my classmates had loved ones present, except for me.”

“At my master’s degree graduation ceremony, it was still just me.

“Now that I’m about to graduate with a PhD, I don’t want to be alone.”

Su Jishi raised her eyes and looked at him with a bright smile.

“Mu Xiulun… would you like to come to my graduation ceremony?”

The man’s throat rolled. It was obviously just a simple question, but when he opened his mouth, it was as if he was solemnly making a lifelong promise.

    “I do.”

    ……

This time, the woman’s graduation ceremony was no longer a one-man show.

She had her family back, met new friends, and found a partner who would be with her for the rest of her life.

    [The End]

The author has something to say: Postscript

I’ve been debating where to put up the Finale sign.

On second thought, I think this is the right place. The two of them came together; the family affairs of President Mu ended; Su Jishi went back to school to continue her doctoral studies; and Su Jinqing finally overcame her once-fragile self and came back to assume her responsibilities.

Of course, the story has ended, but there are several small extras later.

There are now two inspired ones.

One is a story of her sister and brother-in-law in Australia.

The other is after Su Jishi’s graduation, she returned home in boredom and cameoed once again. This time, she will serve as a special guest judge for a male group talent show. I’ll first write Su Jishi’s side story, then Su Jinqing’s next.

Translator Notes: Waaahhhh!! I didn’t know this was the end…I’m craving for more, and I’ll probably be satisfied with the extras. So look forward to them…BTW, I’ve skipped a part of the author’s notes at the end, cause it’s for her next novel. If you’re curious about it, just click the author’s page on JJWXC..
