IHWL – Chapter 51.2

    Indeed, ah!

    Her words woke everyone up.

Since Indonesia was an Asian country, everyone subconsciously thought that flying north from Indonesia was the only way to get back home. But in fact, Indonesia was located at the equator, and it was much closer to Australia in the southern hemisphere! It was a slight detour, but it was safer and simpler.

A screenwriter immediately got up: “Well then, I’ll immediately contact the airline and buy tickets to Australia!”

“—— There’s no need to go to all that trouble.”

Another unexpected male voice rang out. Mu Xiulun appeared, wearing an ironed suit and walking in with a modest gait, and pushed his way in from outside the conference room. He was tall and long-legged, with an overwhelming aura, bearing semblance to a long sharp knife, drawing apart the black curtain that was pressing down on their heads.

He stopped beside Su Jishi, one hand happened to land on the back of the chair behind her. His action appeared casual, but in the eyes of the spectators, the two people were extraordinarily close, as if the man had sheltered the girl under his arms.

“Don’t bother,” he repeated casually, as if he was talking about the weather, “I happen to be flying to Australia the day after tomorrow, and I can give you a ride on my private jet.”

Su Jishi raised her eyes to look at him, smiling but not smiling: “Oh? It just so happens?”

Mu Xiulun stated firmly, “It is such a coincidence.”

    Everyone: ……

Alright, it really seemed to be quite a coincidence.

Faced with the probing eyes of the people in the room, Mu Xiulun did not panic at all and acted very calmly. If someone wanted to know what his business in Australia fwas, he could contrive a story on the spot.

For example, although Indonesia’s nickel production ranked first in the world, Australia’s nickel reserves were actually the highest; for example, Australia’s largest mining company BHP Billiton decided to build a large nickel mining base in the Northern Territory; and then again, for example, he was invited to visit the Australian nickel mines to learn from their advanced procedures and also to try to negotiate orders…

Su Jishi needed only to ask, and he could come up with a million reasons for ‘coincidentally’ traveling to Australia.

But Su Jishi did not ask.

    Nor did the others.

So in this way, everyone set up the itinerary for the morning after tomorrow, and began to pack their bags back home.

The private jet had limited seats and could only carry twelve more passengers in addition to President Mu and his escorts. The program group discussed internally and gave the twelve spots to the five artists and their assistants. The Chief Director and the maind PD followed along on the plane.

The moment the plane took off, a brief feeling of weightlessness greeted them.  Su Jishi leaned on the window, overlooking the island beneath her feet. Her eyes were brimming with scrutiny, regret, and attachment. This K-shaped island with unique geological structure was shrouded with a layer of light gray in the highest mountain area in the middle, while its western coastal area was full of scars beaten by waves.

The power of nature was extremely terrifying and magnificent.

The other passengers on the plane were looking fearfully at the wreckage. They did not have a geologist’s eyes like Su Jishi’s, and all they could ‘see’ was the raging waves and wreckage everywhere.

Xiao Xia sat beside Su Jishi. She didn’t dare to look out the window at the land, and only stared at the private plane.

This private jet was Mu Xiulun’s private property. During the years when Mu Xiulun ‘kept’ Su Jin, he generously lent the aircraft to her many times. When Fang Xie and Ashan kidnapped Su Jishi, she opened her eyes and found herself lying in the bedroom of this plane.

As her assistant, Xiao Xia had naturally boarded the private plane a few times and was familiar with everything inside. When the plane was flying smoothly, Xiao Xia unbuckled her seat belt and happily went to the back pantry to get a drink.

The sun was shining brightly outside the porthole, and Su Jishi felt it blinding, so she pulled down the shade.

All of a sudden, her peripheral vision dimmed, and a figure sat beside her.

Su Jishi looked sideways —— As expected, it was Mu Xiulun.

Su Jishi raised her eyebrows: “Excuse me, this is my assistant’s seat.”

Mu Xiulun countered, “Excuse me, this is my plane.”

    Su Jishi: “…”

So when Xiao Xia came back with snacks and drinks, she was surprised to find her seat occupied. She didn’t show a hint of aggravation at all. On the contrary, she cheerfully carried her food and changed seats. She was particularly deferential. She was really worthy of a CP dog hidden in the only fan group.

    ……

Other people also witnessed Mu Xiulun’s change of seat behavior. They turned a blind eye and deaf ear to everything and held their breath. Soon, an ambiguous and quiet atmosphere spread in the entire cabin.

Only Qin Qiu’s eyes were despondent. Seriously, he reminded one of a puppy that fell out of favor, with ears and tail down drooping.

After spectating for so long, Chen Gangyu sensitively detected his lovelorn trail and gently comforted him to get over it. President Mu had the looks, the wealth as well as kindness. Su Jin and he were a match made in heaven, a groundbreaking pair. Apart from being young, what else could Qin Qiu compare with the Big Boss?

Qin Qiu whispered, “I can’t look away. I want to vent.”

Chen Gangyu was a whole round older than him. She looked at him like, as if he were an ignorant little brother, and asked, “How do you want to vent?”

Qin Qiu: “I want to spend money to vent.”

Chen Gangyu thought that it was right for fans to call him ‘mother’s sweet baby son’. He was quite a good son, no? When other male artists encountered unpleasant things, they would either smoke, drink, fight or go drag racing, but he would spend money to vent. It was really environmentally friendly and energy-saving.

Chen Gangyu said, “Spending money is fine. Isn’t money earned just to spend? We’ll arrive at the airport in a minute. Do you want this elder sister to accompany you shopping in duty-free shops? “

But Qin Qiu shook his head and said, “The things I want to buy are not available in duty-free stores.”

“What do you want to buy?”

Qin Qiu heaved a long sigh: “I want to buy financial products.”

    “…”

“Spend money when heartbroken; spend money angry; spend money when sad…Spending is impulsive consumption. It’s better to spend this consumption on financial products. In this way, we can not only consume, but also make more and more money.” Qin Qiu eyes flashed, “Sister Chen, what do you think?”

Chen Gangyu: “I think you’re full of rubbish.”

After a short two-hour flight, President Mu’s private plane slowly landed at Darwin International Airport in the capital of Australia’s Northern Territory.

After landing, Mu Xiulun moved to part with them.

Before parting, several artists, led by the Chief Director, stepped forward to thank Mu Xiulun. If not for his help, they would not have been able to fly back home so smoothly.

Mu Xiulun replied indifferently, “It’s no bother.”

But his eyes swept through the crowd and landed on Su Jishi, who was standing in the back row.

After the thankful crowd dispersed, Su Jishi walked up to him and suddenly stretched out her half-clenched fist to him in a reserved and proud manner.

Mu Xiulun stared at her fist suspiciously for a long time, also silently extended his fist, and gently hit hers.

Su Jishi: “…Mr. Mu, I wasn’t looking for a fist bump with you.”

    Mu Xiulun: “…”

    Su Jishi: “Spread your hand.”

So Mu Xiulun obediently placed his hand under Su Jishi’s fist and unfurled his palm.

The next second, he saw the girl’s fingers loosening, and a black gem, like a falling star, fell into his palm with the pull of gravity.

Mu Xiulun’s pupils shook. He looked at the translucent black creation with some surprise.

Its shade resembled glass, but it felt like stone…

“Volcanic glass.” Su Jishi said softly, “This volcanic glass was found in the lake where you picked me up, and now, I’m giving it to you.”

    ……

Watching the girl’s graceful silhouette drifting farther and further away, Mu Xiulun closed his fingers and hid the black ticking ore into his coat pocket.

Secretary Gao asked incomprehensibly, “President Mu, why don’t you just send Miss Su back home? Why did you have to make a detour and send her to Australia?”

Mu Xiulun coldly replied, “Why should I send her back to China specifically? I just happened to come to Australia on business and gave her a ride.”

Secretary Gao: “…” Fine, whatever makes you happy.

The flight back home was scheduled two hours later.Luckily, Darwin Airport was not too crowded and these Chinese artists kept a really low-profile and did not attract any attention.

They printed their tickets and sat in the VIP lounge, waiting to board their flight. Courteous attendants served them desserts and drinks while they passed the time.

When they got to the airport, they were finally able to connect to the Internet! Everyone immediately took out their electronic devices, connected to the airport wifi, and anxiously browsed online news.

As expected, the internet had long exploded for the mishap they encountered, with everyone discussing how serious this volcano and tsunami in Sulawesi really was, and how irresponsible the program group was for not preparing well in advance and putting the safety of all the artists at risk.

Seeing so many scolding posts, the Chief Director became the scapegoat and had no choice but to resign to his fate.

In these posts, the frequency ‘Su Jin’s name being mentioned was definitely the highest. When a news reporter went to an interview, she volunteered to donate blood, a scene that infected many people. Be it fans or passers-by, they were impressed by her initiative. Although some people were dubious that it was self-hype, more people believed in her and were impressed by her bravery in sacrificing herself for others.

The Chief Director watched that interview extract many times over and over and teased Su Jishi, “Miss Su, you said that day that you wouldn’t let me use this natural disaster to help you hype. See, now you don’t need to hype. Your good name is already known to many people.”

Su Jishi clarified rather bitterly, “This is an unforeseen gaffe… I really wanted to donate blood at that time, but I didn’t weigh enough to do it.”

The Chief Director said, “But at least you have this intention. You should know that many people are afraid to donate blood and are unwilling to do so. Now, with you as a role model, I’m sure many people will be brave enough to get on the blood donation bus.”

They were chatting when a service staff suddenly approached, holding a latest model Apple phone, and handed it to Su Jishi.

The man rejoiced: “My lady, your phone has been left here for a long time. I didn’t expect to encounter you again today.”

Su Jishi was stunned: “What?” She had never been to the Northern Territory, so how could she have left her phone here. “Did you mistake me for someone else?”

“There is no mistaken identity.” The service staff shook his head, “There are very few Asians in the Northern Territory, and those who come to the VIP room to rest  are even fewer. At that time, you left your phone on the table… Look at the lock screen photo of this phone. Isn’t it you?”

While speaking, the service staff immediately turned on the phone, and the white big Apple logo flashed —— As he has said, the phone’s lock screen photo was of Su Jishi with an older woman.

In the photo, ‘Su Jishi’ had long hair pulled up with a hairpin. Her eyes were like water, and her smile carried a veiled tenderness. Next to her, a gentle woman in a turquoise hospital gown was sitting in the sunlight. Because of chemotherapy, her originally thick hair had fallen off, and she was also wearing a nasal cannula between her nose.

She and her features were extraordinarily similar. No matter who looked at it, they could easily guess the blood relationship between the two in the photo.

Caught off guard, Su Jishi crashed into this two shot picture with a glance.

She caught her breath, and for a moment, it was as if she had lost the ability to breathe.

The person in the photo was the face she missed day and night, but could never see again.

But she never expected that she would be reunited at this time and in this place.

Beside her, Qin Qiu heard their conversation. He curiously peeked and saw the photo on the lock screen of her phone at a glance.

“Eh?” Qin Qiu exclaimed, “Sister Su, is this you and your mother?”

“…Hmm.” Su Jishi’s voice sounded contained in the middle of her throat.

Yes, the people in the photo were ‘Su Jin’ and ‘Su Jin’s mother’.

But she —— Was she Su Jin?
