SSC (BL) – Chapter 3

The little Ghost

No matter how Zuo Qin tried to convince himself, Xue Lin knew nothing about it, so he just passed by the incense candle shop and left without stopping.

Zuo Qin anxiously wanted to follow Xue Lin, but he couldn’t bear to leave the delicious incense candles. There seemed to be two little villains fighting in his head.

One of the little villains said anxiously, “Benefactor will be leaving soon. Why don’t you hurry and catch up with him? Don’t you want to return his favor?”

The other villain hesitated: “But the incense candles are really delicious, and besides, if I’m not full, how am I going to repay my gratitude to my benefactor in the future?”

Yes, if I don’t eat, I won’t have the strength to repay him. Zuo Qin seemed to have grasped a life-saving straw, and convinced himself in his heart. The more he thought about it, the more he felt that he was right.

Zuo Qin’s villainous fight in his heart was actually only a moment. His eyes rolled and he was struck with an idea as he watched Xue Lin moving straight ahead.

Zuo Qin’s right hand pointed at Xue Lin’s dangling purse, and then pointed at the incense candle shop, and a magical scene was staged.

Xue Lin suddenly realized that his purse seemed to weigh more than a thousand pounds, falling straight down and almost causing him to stumble. He hurriedly grabbed the falling purse, but couldn’t lift it up. The purse seemed to have a life of its own, and actually pointed straight at the incense candle shop next to him.

Xue Lin: “…”

If he didn’t find anything odd this time, Xue Lin really would have to visit a doctor to cure his brain. He went over the unusual places in his head he had been for the past few days and somehow remembered the skeleton he had buried, and broke out in a cold sweat.

The only thing he did these days was to bury that white skeleton. Could it be that he had caused some trouble out of the goodness of his heart?

Xue Lin’s head was in a mess. The purse at his waist was very assertive. Seeing that the owner didn’t move, it actually pulled Xue Lin to the incense candle shop on his own.

Now Xue Lin’s face was even more ugly, but Zuo Qin was so engrossed in the delicious incense candles on the candle shop that he didn’t notice anything.

Xue Lin took a breath and forced himself to calm down. He shouldn’t think about those strange spirits in broad daylight, but he still involuntarily took out his purse and bought a few incense candles and a full tael or two worth of joss paper.

Zuo Qin was so happy, his eyes shined brightly at the incense candles and joss paper in Xue Lin’s hands. He smiled and thought to himself that Xue Lin was really a good man!

Xue Lin had no desire to stroll any further after what had just happened. He just wanted to hurry back to the place where the skeleton was buried in the back of the mountain and send the owner of this skeleton off.

After returning to the village, Xue Lin hurriedly went to the place where Zuo Qin was buried in the back of the mountain and burned all the joss sticks and joss paper he had bought. And Zuo Qin finally ate the joss sticks that he had been craving, smiling so lovely with his eyes bent.

Xue Lin was snotty from the smoke and couldn’t open his eyes, but still insisted on watching all the joss paper being burned, muttering under his breath: Friend, the money should be for you now. You should reincarnate quickly, don’t be reluctant to leave the mortal world.

It turned out that Xue Lin thought that the money he had burned to Zuo Qin wasn’t enough and that was why Zuo Qin refused to leave for a long time, so he bought more this time.

Zuo Qin was a little puzzled when he heard what Xue Lin muttered. He felt a little unhappy. Why does Benefactor always want me to leave? I’m returning the favor. Did I scare him before?

Zuo Qin was thinking about why Xue Lin always wanted him to be reincarnated, and thus didn’t notice the person quietly approaching in the distance.

“Xue Lin! It really is you!” A crafty little ruffian approached. He was the village’s infamous little ruffian Bastard Zhou. He was idle all day long, not doing his job. The villagers looked down on him.

Xue Lin has always been uncomfortable with Bastard Zhou. To be precise, Bastard Zhou has always picked on Xue Lin unilaterally. Xue Lin never cared about him before, but now that he met Bastard Zhou again, Xue Lin frowned and didn’t reply.

In the eyes of Bastard Zhou, Xue Lin had a guilty conscience, but dared not to admit it, so he proudly wandered over to Xue Lin. He looked at the joss paper ash pile and the silent Xue Lin, and viciously said, “I saw it all! You killed someone!”

Xue Lin looked up sharply seemingly very shocked at Bastard Zhou’s ability to spun such lies: “What are you talking about?!”

Bastard Zhou didn’t care what Xue Lin’s attitude was and still said with ill intent, “Don’t try to argue. Why else would you be burning joss paper? Everyone knows you’re here without strings attached. The only possibility why you’re here burning joss paper is that you’re guilty of murdering someone!”

Xue Lin rolled his big white eyes and grabbed Bastard Hunzi’s lapels. “Which eye did you see me kill someone?”

Bastard Hunzi was only bluffing Xue Lin. After all, Xue Lin’s various legends were widespread in the village, and he couldn’t help but believe them after hearing more. However, the temptation of money was too great, compelling him to be evil from the edge of his guts: “Then why are you burning joss paper here when everything’s all right?”

Seeing that Xue Lin couldn’t speak, Bastard Hunzi immediately felt proud again. He freed himself from Xue Lin’s grasp, rascally straightened his clothes, and then threatened with a sardonic smile, “Xue Lin, I know you’ve saved a lot of money from hunting over the years, so I’m willing to keep this secret for you for the sake of our village, as long as you give me this amount.”

Bastard Hunzi said as he made a “five” sign in his hand, and then said: “50 taels, I’ll take it to get married. By then, you’ll take your sunny way and I’ll cross my wooden bridge. I’ll keep this matter rotten in my heart.”

Xue Lin looked at Bastard Hunzi with a complicated expression. Obviously, he didn’t expect people to be shameless to this extent. It was fine if he slandered people, but he actually blackmailed him along with it. Calling him a mongrel was really unfair to him. He was a downright mongrel.

Xue Lin hadn’t had time to respond yet, but Zuo Qin, who witnessed everything, was already trembling with anger. He didn’t expect that someone would actually bully his Benefactor in front of him. He secretly resolved to mete out punishment to Bastard Hunzi.

Therefore, he secretly stretched out his hand and flicked Bastard Hunzi’s knee out of thin air, and the latter knelt down straight, unable to get up.

“What happened? Why can’t I get up? Xue Lin! What have you done to me?!” Bastard Hunzi looked around in a daze, and finally could only pin his hopes on Xue Lin, the only living person in front of him.

Zuo Qin was beside himself with joy. He was even happier to see Bastard Hunzi’s face change a few times. Hmph! Who told you to bully my benefactor?!

Xue Lin had a vague suspicion in his heart that this matter was only related to the owner of the skeleton again, but he didn’t show it on his face. He just reached out his hand to help the kneeling Bastard Hunzi up.

Strangely enough, the man who couldn’t stand up at first, stood up without any obstacle after Xue Lin gently helped him. Bastard Hunzi’s face couldn’t be painted. After he stood up, he shook off Xue Lin’s hands and scampered away, squeaking in fright.
